i agree; that sing-off between hospital bands is the greatest.

Bad Religion – Kyoto Now! Lyrics 18 years ago
well gee willickers. you're obviously not much of a thinker, now, are you. without a sustainable economy, the environment won't matter. take a whiff of reality, little buddy. you'd save the environment to put us further into national debt - a debt we'll have to pay off one day, probably very soon, with all this asian conflict - and risk a more-than-possible inflation increase, AGAIN? please.

and about "game theory," people also use that logic to illustrate that it's more beneficial to believe in god than not to. so... i don't buy it there, and i don't buy it here either. game theory only works when one factoris UNKNOWN, to try to make it the best possible thing when it is finally known. but in this case, it is known - no, well-known - that money would be WASTED upon ratification of kyoto. bad religion do know what they're talking about, most of the time; i stick with my earlier comment, though.

Squirrel Nut Zippers – Hell Lyrics 19 years ago
....WHAT? what the hell do passive verbs and adverbs have to do with this song? i think your linguistic analysis is inherently flawed in that there's no REASON for it whatsoever. ... ... i don't even know what to say. are you correcting the lyrics for the original writer? because that's a different story... but just saying that they 'deviate, intentionally, from a natural flow in the song,' and that adverbs exist where objects should is like saying that "i look funny" should be "i look at a horse," and that one 'deviates' from and should be the other. also, your apparent need to show off your linguistic vocab seems a bit unnecessary, wouldn't you say?

Nada Surf – Blankest Year Lyrics 19 years ago
i do like this song, but i think it's really unfortunate how they changed their style and digressed from high/low and the proximity effect. that was amazing stuff; this is sort of mediocre. doesn't have all the feeling the old stuff had.

it's not like it's a song that's hard to understand.. his words are perfectly clear and definitely too good to misprint.

Nada Surf – 80 Windows Lyrics 19 years ago
i agree with upallnight and the theme of boredom, rather than that of loneliness. the 'the moon is closer to the sun' comment is definitely very obvious, but overall i think it's about boredom.

rather than loneliness alone, i think the moon comment is.. well.. why would he be so bored if he were close to people? i think that's all that means, rather than a personal statement of the status of a relationship [or lack thereof] like so many other songs have on 'the proximity effect.'

Nada Surf – Silent Fighting Lyrics 19 years ago
'under the covers and out of the weather.' amazing. that says it all for this song. sadly, a common theme in lots of relationships. we've all had 'em.

Nada Surf – Popular Lyrics 19 years ago
'say anything?' it's people like you who advertise shit like that who shouldn't be listening to nada surf to begin with. you don't deserve it if you think the words are bullshit. sure, i don't agree with the 'fuck the popular kids' thing, but people just say that to sound cool and try to be, for lack of a better word, cool. if you think this song is bullshit, try listening to some other nada surf music then give your opinion on whether or not this is bullshit. go listen to your little 'say anything' twelve-year-old music and go fuck yourself.

oops, i mean 7/1. costs greatly outweigh benefits.

Bad Religion – Kyoto Now! Lyrics 19 years ago
wow. well for starters, the cost-benefit ratio of Kyoto for the United States is 1/7. kyoto now? as much as i love bad religion, and as much as i hate to admit it, this is just an "i hate the government and i'm too busy to do research" song.

and on another note, nickE, you're an idiot. take an english class. 'bad religion' is a band. A band. not a few bands. bad religion IS incredible = correct. the MEMBERS of bad religion ARE incredible. but any seventh-grader can tell you that singular items don't use 'are,' they use 'is.'

Bad Religion – Don't Pray on Me Lyrics 19 years ago
lepra, we all love sublime, of course, but your comment was, for lack of a better word, rediculous. 'april 29th 1992' was on the self-titled cd, released about three years after 'recipe for hate' was released. before you're going to provide false information, do a little research next time. make your claims rational, at least.
