Cave In – Crossbearer Lyrics 23 years ago
Christianity is fucked up. Christians have fucked up morals and fucked up ideals. Do not accept Christianity, because it will fuck you up, and then you'll die like everyone else. Fuck Christ. Fuck Christians. Fuck God. Fuck the holy spirit.

Thursday – Cross Out The Eyes Lyrics 23 years ago
Woah...who's got idea's as to what's being screamed after "push these dreams of you away"? I just try to duplicate the sounds when I scream along, but it'd be nice to not feel like an idot, just screaming whatever...haaha

Thursday – Paris in Flames Lyrics 23 years ago
An excerpt from an interview with Geoff Rickly by Skratch magazine (a very shitty pubication, but hey, it's got a Thursday interview):

SKRATCH: "...songs such as "Understanding in a Car Crash" and "Paris in Flames", express an honest struggle that almost seem unimaginable. What types of life occurrences have been of assistance to the overwhelming emotion pisplayed in your lyrics and music together?"

GEOFF: [Explains signifigance of "Understanding in a car crash] "The song "Paris in Flames" is a response to a documentary called "PAris is Burning", which looks at the life of minority transexuals/transvestitesin Harlem. I have a good friend that plays in a hardcore band that inspired me so much who told me that the only thing harder than being a black punk rocker, is being a gay black punk rocker. That song is for him. The song is a call to burn down the restrictive prejudices in our society (which are represented by the city of Paris), and build your own ideals."

I think some words from the mouth of Thursday's amazingly talented vocalist and coauthor of the song will clear up some of the debate.

City of Caterpillar – A Little Change Could Go A Long Way Lyrics 23 years ago
Incredible build-up. This is their best live song because I think the drums are played even faster than on the album. The onstage emotions are almost tangible and they make it hard to stay still.

City of Caterpillar – Maybe They'll Gnaw Right Through Lyrics 23 years ago
This song lends to a sense of desperate insanity that makes C o C 's music so compelling.

The Anniversary – All Things Ordinary Lyrics 23 years ago
I'm a guy, and I very much like this band. I'm really glad that every dashboard listening "emo kid" didn't latch onto them and kill them for people who already liked the Anniversary like they have for so many other good bands. Fuck the bandwagon mindset.

Saves the Day – Sell My Old Clothes, I'm Off to Heaven Lyrics 23 years ago
Saves the Day is a very good band. I would also like to tell all the "emo kids" with their little sad faces to quit acting like their lives are so full of pain. You aren't cool because you're sad.

The Get Up Kids – A Newfound Interest in Massachusetts Lyrics 23 years ago
This song is awesome. I really like the Get Up Kids, but I hate it when people use that stupid "emo" buzzword in referance to their (or anybody's) music. So instead of posting on the merits of this particular song, I'd rather address the "emo" plague. It's not the music. I love what the 'tards call "emo". It's the attitude adopted by every kid who saw Dashboard on MTv. It's that "I'm so sad all the time because it's fashionable, and I'm shallow" mindset that is so aggravating. Do you kids think that other people actually think your life is as painful as you want them to think it is? Other people realize that you are so bent on being cool that you are willing to let it control how you feel. You're only a couple steps higher than the Nu Metal kids that are convinced that their parents are scum because Korn is all about having a fucked up family. Think for yourself. Liking music is one thing; letting a style of music govern your emotions and view of the world is another.

Neutral Milk Hotel – Two-Headed Boy Pt. 2 Lyrics 23 years ago
I listen to the part of this song between 2:00 and 2:30 over and over again. I've never heard lines more profoundly austere...
