Does anyone else think this song is about love coming to us in the afterlife, after we "become one" with the universe again? Or is it more of an earthly notion of love? I think it might be both. |

I love the line "I can't say another word I haven't said before". This means that he is not going to start saying how much he loves her when she is leaving because she already knows how he feels. He has told her these things many times. |

Has anyone heard either versions of this song from the BBC sessions? They make the released version on Works seem boring. I highly recommend it. PM me @ BrassMonkyJunkie on AIM if you are interested. |

I have heard all of Pink Floyd's published work. Not to say I'm an expert or anything, just a huge fan. For me, this song is right up there with their best. I have always been partial to early 70's Floyd such as this. I feel it is when they were most inspired and experimental.
Anyway, yes I believe this song refers to the "cat and mouse" games in politics. More specifically, war. |

The voice saying "it's OK! it's alright!" is Dennis Hopper from Apocalypse Now, when Capt. Willard finally arrives at Col. Kurtz's loony stronghold. Kurtz sacrifices people and leaves their heads and bodies lying around his camp. Ministry means Hopper's indication of safety by saying "It's OK! it's alright!" to Capt. Willard is just as rediculous as this "new world order" Bush mentions, and its implications on our future as a species. |

I think this song is about how the changes in your life that you can't do anything about affect who you are, and the decisions that you make. How all these changes make you feel different. Changes like moving away from friends or a girlfriend/boyfriend you've had for many years, or anything like that. Face to face is amazing, can't wait for warped. |

| The Ataris – You Need A Hug Lyrics

he's not making fun of henry rollins...henry rollins is a punk rock god and the ataris are a punk rock band.....i think they wrote this song for all the emo bands that SCREAM as loud as they can (i.e. glassjaw) into they're mics about how bad they're life is or how much they miss someone...well guess what, we've all got problems, and we all miss SOMEONE... here's the diff. between punk and emo....punk turns these problems into great songs (i.e. you need a hug) instead of making a lot of noise like emo....well thats just my opinion, anyways....a lot of ppl will disagree and its really just about taste. i just dont see how people can like emo so much.....cheer up emo kid! |

I think this song is about cruisin' around with your friends havin a good time, gettin fucked up on what have you, and forgetting the world. Cause at that time, all you have are yourself, and your friends. Nothing else matters, all that exists is that moment and you can forget all of your troubles etc. |

abirdnamedsloth, thank you for the analysis, very cool. I think there should be two seperate forums for each song, one for analysis (songmeaning) and one for general discussion (where the song plays, how good it is, etc.) I mean i respect everyone's right to post but i wish i could just go right to some people's great insight like as shown here...good work |

| NOFX – Leave It Alone Lyrics

I think this song is about how, in our Partnership for a drug free american society, we must all be careful when trying to do anything that's "against the rules":
Breath ever soft
We wouldn't wanna break the eggs as we walk
Never alone, cautious, afraid
I hear the voice of reason on the p.a.
These lines represent how, even if your like smoking a joint by yourself, there is always that risk that you could get caught and end up in jail. There's always someone else there, the voice of reason. Just my two cents |
