To me this song is about falling in love with someone. Time to disect the song=D
Line 1:
-----To me in this line he is trying to ask the person if they really can see how much he loves them underneath everything else. Roses can be used to descirbe the false beauty of something. That false beauty is just in his eyes though because i doesn't know how the other person feels about him so and he still has all the insecurities and he wonders of they know he has them as well.
Line 2 needs none
Line 3:
-----This just means to him it feels like they are meant to be forever
Line 4:
-----The river rising is meant by the feeling of water going up ones back. This is used to describe the feeling of love and the feeling of it engulfying you.

To me this song is about being in a relationship that means a great deal for the first time. It is about how you feel as though you have never really felt before and the person makes you feel a way that is new to you. I really love this song right now because i am starting to like a girl and i have never gone through this part of a relationship before. With my x we kinda skipped the whole begging phase pretty much. I mean i didn't get a chance to slowly build emotions for her. I got guilted into the relationship. But with this HOPEFULLY new one to arise i have gone from nothing to feeling for her a great deal and that is one of the best feelings i have ever felt and this song makes me think of that. |

To me this song is about someone in a relationship with another person that doesn't give care about them and knows it. But they are so in love with this person to stay with them as long as it takes them to realize how much they are needed. The reason i think this song is so good is because thats exactly how my last relationship was. |

anomalous3 i understand what you mean by the "other" feeling. How you become almost oblivious to anything and everything, everything seems to go in slow motion, and you are just completely numb! I do love this feeling! But i don't think we are crazy for getting this feeling when something TERRIBLE happens to us. I have been called crazy tho, MANYA TIMES. But not really for this resson. I think it is because everyone deals with pain deferently. Personally i LOVE PAIN OF ALMOST EVERY KIND! Emotional and physical. |

I agree with beth46307 this song is clearly about drugs. All of the things that the "i" is saying are the durgs talking to him saying that they are the only reason he is here and that without them he will be nothing and think nothing. i personally and going through an addiction battle right now and i can relate with this song ALOT. I can't explain how much this song relate to going through with draw and the CRAVING of the drug. And actually i have told myself some of THESE EXICTE THINGS and i had never even heard the song until yesterday. There is nothing as hard as ignoring your self and this song i think gets it across nicely |

For one thing guys this song is not about how "GOD IS DEAD" or there is no god or whatever else it is just about how in TODAYS society alot of people call themselves religious when they are not and he is saying that if god died people wouldn't know or care and by this causing them to go to hell(if there is one). THat is what it is about. |

i think that this song is obvisly about drugs and how someone was just walking along or whatever and decided to "experiment" and got addicted. It is also bout how they do not want to admit and/or do not realize that they are addicted until they have lost everything in life. To me this song is VERY VERY SAD because i have lost MANY friends to addiction and i am even battling it out right now and this song is, i guess you could say, was my insparation to kick drugs. But it is VERY HARD and this song makes me think of where i could be in a couple years or even months. |

Y agree with Aniega it does suck growing up part of the Y Gen. But fortunatly my dad had tons of differnt records round when i was growing up, my fav when i was little was Lou Reed's Savage. Or something like that is a double live record though.. it is great. He also has a couple iggy pop. |

I never really payed attention to this song on my RYKO Ziggy Stardust type until i saw Everclear on the 4th of July n the summer of 2000. They preformed it as the final song with some of the members from the band Flipped. Ever sence then i have paid alot more attention to the song and I LOVE IT!!!! Also i have had the tape for about 8 or 9 years and i found out quite recently that the RYOKU releases a very rare now since they have unreleased songs and they r no longer n business so as u can imagine when i found this out i was overcome with joy=) |
