fuckyouall , yeah the sex pistols are on mtv sometimes, even vh1... so are the ramones, green day, rancid... doesn't really matter to me. you are right, when a band CHANGES how they are (looks, ideas, mainly music) to make it big, THAT is selling out. not having your record go platinum. or have your music video win an award. most "real" punks, in the underground, etc., just don't support the corporations & the major labels. they believe you should be in the band to make music. signing a multi-million dollar contract doesnt rank on their list of priorities. *punk*rock*girl* i agree, we are here for the same reason, so why do we fight. |

sid vicious... spinning in his grave? heh heh. kind of funny. because everyone (in the original punk scene in the 60s & 70s) thought sid & the sex pistols were "poseurs" & didn't like them much at all. |

one of the most beautiful, yet painful, songs by silverchair... actually, by almost any band out there. sometimes it's hard to believe daniel was only 17 or 18 when he wrote this... some songwriters are in their 20s & 30s & cannot write or produce a song with a deep meaning like this. |

fugazi IS a great band. they've inspired many, many bands (some newer that are still heard today. & even some older ones who have broken up.) the thing is, fugazi didn't/doesn't WANT to be in the mainstream. they'd rather have a group of fans who likes them & their music. NOT if they're on mtv, or have shirts in hot topic, or people who like them 'because they are cool.' i'm not saying YOU guys on here are those kinds of DC fans, but i am sure you know of, or personally know, people like that. those are the kinds of people who are "killing emo" so to say. the ones who are buying into it, not because there are some great bands, not because the music is good, but because it's popular. but, i guess it doesn't matter, because when the emo/punk trend goes away in a few years, the real fans will still be here. anyway. i don't really like DC. however, i really dug Further Seems Forever. |
