Along the lines of many of their songs, this song is about being a teenager, trying to get himself laid. He is pleading with his girl to give in to the temptation and give up her virginity. "Hairshirt" is the sexual label(virgin) that his friends have put on him. |

I think there are many ways to interpret this song but my personal feeling is that it's about drinking and driving. It is a weapon. "Breathe in, breathe out" after being pulled over. "Give in" to the temptation, and then your mind "give(s) out". "Heaven" is how you feel but it may lead to "destruction".
You could also interpret as a political song or even about a relationship. It's pretty obscure. |

MY Eighth grade teacher analyzed this song for our class. He says it's about the priesthood and attaining the ring the higher priests recieve. But, that was 20 years ago. |

Nilgun is right. It's a letter addressed to God. He can't write a letter to someone he doesn't believe in. He believes God is something totally different than religion has percieved him to be and is wondering why God can't solve the problem. Maybe he is incapable. |
