For me, the song is kinda about virginity. I don't think that that was the poet's intention. "Today is the greatest Day I've never known" It talks about the fantasy. "My angel wings Were bruised and restrained" it might talk about being sexually frustrated, feeling like he is restrained. "I want to turn you on I want to turn you Today is the greatest" Well, not much to say about the turn on part, it is obvious. it's just an interesting way to look at the song, no more. |

For me the song can be divided into two parts. the first part, which talks about modern life. "do you think you call tell? heaven from hell?" "can you tell a greenfield from a cold steel rail" and the second part can be referred to Syd, but it sounds like its a written to a loved one, and not a friend. |

Well i think this is sort of.. the final cut from the world. "perfect isolation" but now he fears of the outside from whats different. "to turn on the showers and fire the ovens" is a creepy reminder of the Nazi actions... killing the different, not only building the wall, but also destroying what's beyond it. |

I heard both versions, I think Nirvana's version is better. there isn't much to it, I just think its better. its a matter of taste, I can understand how some people liked Bowie's version better. |

BLAH, this is not the best song in ever/ten years/100 years or whatever. Yeah, this song is great, but face it, musically its not that good. the lycris are great though. "And I forget just why I taste Oh yeah, I guess it makes me smile I found it hard, it was to find Oh well, whatever, nevermind" that just ownz. |

OK, Rob-something is totaly wrong. The song is partly about an article that was done about the Cobain's.. about the drug addication, and rumors that Courtney took drugs while being pregnant: "My favorite inside source. I'll kiss your open sores. Appreciate your concern. You'll always stink and burn." But there is no right or wrong here though, MTV thought its about them "rape me". |
