| David Bowie – The Man Who Sold the World Lyrics

You've gotta respect somebody who can make a decent song with some of the instruments used in this one. I always wondered if that ladder/cheese grater thing would ever sound good in an actual song. |

| Rasputina – Rats Lyrics

I thought it was more about them being overrun by rats and starving, but still having qualms with eating such "dirty" things. To help them with that, anything the Pope says must be law, even if it makes no sense at all, so rats "became" fish and problems solved! |

To let you know, the song in the diamond commercials is Palladio. I played it in orchestra and it's easier than it sounds. |

| Rasputina – Clipped Lyrics

In keeping with the certain amount of feminism that tends to run throughout Raspy's songs, it seemed to relate to a woman tied down by a man's world, perhaps if she recently married. Of course, that's all in the ideals of at least 100 years ago (also keeping with Raspian style). |

It is a cover, but I don't know who did it originally. The Blow Monkeys did another cover for it, which is on the Dirty Dancing soundtrack. |

This song is a tribute to Rose Kennedy, obviously, and about the tragedy of the onset of Alzheimer's Disease. |

| Weezer – My Name Is Jonas Lyrics
|
|
The fact that there is a grandmother present makes me think it's not about the Giver, but that similar line is a pretty big coincidence, if not. Remember, Jonas' world didn't really recognize grandparents, or even biological lineages. The memory may just be one he was given, though, and not actually something that happened. Still, the rest of the song doesn't seem to go with the book. |

Melora said that this song was written with the character on "Fantasy Island," Mr. Rourke's midget assistant, in mind. (The one who ran to ring the bell and shout, "Da plane, da plane!" in every episode.) |

| Rasputina – Watch T.V. Lyrics
|
|
Or perhaps it's more just what it says it is. You know when your favorite show gets cancelled or comes to an end? Sometimes people are really into the show, and consider it almost like a family. Even if it's cancelled, they'll look for reruns to be with those they're close to again. |

| Rasputina – Transylvanian Concubine Lyrics
| 23 years ago
|
|
Some hardcore fans maintain that it's actually about Elizabeth Bathory, a serial killer of yesteryear. I'm sure you can find out more about her in a simple internet search, since there's some "fun" details about her adventures, but she basically thought killing young women and bathing in their blood made her younger, or at least appear that way. But that doesn't really apply to many of the words, so it could just be a little aspect of where the song came from, or nothing. |

| Rasputina – Dig Ophelia Lyrics
|
|
True, it's the Ophelia of "Hamlet" fame, but I think there's a bit more interpretation to be found in the line "Your eyes never close, your mind's not at rest." The time shortly before her death was definitely a time of a lot of confusion and sadness. She was seeking peace in death, and an escape from the madness of the world and herself, but she couldn't even find it there. |

| Eminem – Stan Lyrics

sic n twisted's got it right. You may not agree, but you have to respect some of the things he has to say. Haven't you ever wanted to hurt somebody, I mean really hurt somebody, and had no way to express that feeling? Well, Eminem found a way, and he's making money off it, to boot. If the Stans in the world can't figure that out, I guess it's well enough that they remove themselves from the gene pool. It's just too bad they have to take others with them. |

Keep in mind, I haven't seen the video, I don't think. (Or at least I don't remember it.) But it makes me think of a road trip, kinda, or at least driving...but I guess that could just be another part of nostalgia. |

| America – A Horse With No Name Lyrics
|
|
I have heard some discussion that the "with no name" line is actually supposed to refer to the person singing song. He had been through, having no name at the time, the desert on a horse. It makes even less sense, that way, which is why the other would be used. But that's probably a REALLY long shot... |

Well that doesn't explain all of it, even if they are on drugs. What's with all the speaking parts in between that aren't written here? I think she's pregnant, and they're being total jackasses about it and just laughing. |
