you got a very good story there "emo12PUNK12metal" and i agree with almost everything you're saying. Living in the Netherlands there's not a really a bandwagon going on, but i can observe the 'new fans' growing by the second. And i must say that it struck me that people were talking about Jimmy EatS (yes 'they' spell it like that) World's guitarist Tom in terms of how cute he is and how they like "The Underwear Song". I mean, Clarity changed my view on music and it's just a masterpiece and it 'hurts' to see them being pumped up as just another one-hit-wonder. Same goes for a lot of other bands (like Dashboard Confessional, whom only few people know here in Holland)... and there are a lot of other bands i can enjoy so much more than the general mainstream-sad-lyric-bands out there. But i guess it's just a matter of interest in the music. If you really like and love music wholeheartedly then you'll find the good stuff eventually.
I like Konstantine, and i'd never heard of Something Corporate (my guess is only about three people here in Holland have) before i heard this song (through the internet). So I can see both sides, and I can really understand you (and me) being irritated by all the commercial input in the music-scene that's creating a hype. But people who actually care about music will develop their own taste and find their own way.
I hope this makes any sense whatsoever... I just felt i needed to reply, but can't really find the right words. Tnx for reading. |
