I think this song is about someone meeting a woman he recalls from a past life, and how he had strong feelings for her. He can barely remember her because of how much time has passed, but he still remembers her distinctive characteristics, but too much time has passed and her memories of him have completely faded away. This song sort of reminds me of Third Eye by Tool. Oh yeah, listen to the lyrics "Hearts and thoughts they fade away" in reverse and a pretty clear message is evident, probably not intentional of course. I won't say what I think it says to prevent tainting your first impression of it. |

I don't get it... Tool fans usually seem like very intelligent people, full of creative thoughts and positive outlooks... But then there's a bunch that buy into this new-age/rennes-le-chateau/astral projection/energy grids/aliens/magic with a k/crowley/chakra/pineal gland/sacred geometry BULL SHIT (did I miss anything?) if a person wants to spend their time chasing after illusions built upon unrealistic claims, so be it. but they need to realize that they are degrading the integrity of the tool fan community. sorry to be so harsh, but wake up people. Don't bother conjuring some demon against me, I'll just kick him in the chakras and isolate him using my 3 magick pentagrams, because we all know then number 3 is holy. |

this song gave me some weird bad nightmare once. After listening to the whole album, I was drifting off to sleep, when all of a sudden I felt "me" get sucked out of my body and slammed up against my wall hard. Gravity felt really strange, like it was moving all over the place. I could hear that part at the end of "thomas" where maynard's voice is all distorted/backward/mixed up and some type of chanting in low slow tones in a language I've never heard before or since... Then I blacked out and woke up about 5 seconds later sweating like a mofo. scary scary scary... but powerful |

Wow... I guy must really get to know himself coming out of heroin addiction. This album really means a lot to me. John sounds like a guy that you could tell anything to and he would understand completely. I think this song, and the entire album is about just completely letting go of everything. Letting go of absolutely everything, including your dreams and disappointments, and letting the universe put you where it wants you. Starting over and not worrying about a single thing. |

Tool was like a rich dessert. A proper amount was perfect, but getting addicted to anything is bad. It's great they got people to start thinking. But I think they knew when they started that it would be time to call it quits when they could sell us a shirt that says "Think For Yourself." A few things... "And I hate the fruity Mirror" I think is acutally "And I hate the food in Europe" because most of the food there does suck. "That there wern`t no point in moaning" might be "There wern't no point in mowing" which makes sense with the other grass mowing lyric, and since grass always grows back there really is no point in mowing it. I have to disagree with the people that don't think this song has any meaning. I've noticed that alot of butthole surfers song have one or two lines of intelligent insight among a shitload of silly lyrics. Like "you never know just how you look through other peoples' eyes." I think maybe the point is either A) to jolt some sense into people whose mind only contain silly bullshit thoughts or B) show that wisdom is actually just another random arrangent of words |

Does anyone remember a little thing they used to show on Nickelodean back in the early 80s where this little bitty guy was painted on a glass and the glass would dance around and sing? Anyway I think this song is about remebering all the silly shit that is stuck in our mind for NO APPARENT REASON and won't just fade away like the memories we would like to KEEP. It's also about how we all have to do some strange things that don't make any sense at the time, but we do them for no reason, just to be doing something. Can anyone translate the Spanish lines? Wow it's really good that we can understand what the hell Gibby is saying on the later butthole surfers tracks. I think this song is about how everything breaks down into chaos sooner or later. And we should all be cool about it because there isn't a damn thing we can do about it. There's a lot of people out there that take life way too seriously, and I think this song is about just getting down with the fun stuff once in a while, like girls and drugs, and not worrying about being a shallow asshole sometimes. The beat just rocks and the lyrics just let your mind wander around and makes you realize that you're not the only one thinking about strange and bizarre things. It's like slipping deeper into a dream without worrying about being alone. |
