| NOFX – One Celled Creature Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
don't you guys understand just because they wrote songs criticizing each other, they don't hate each other? It's constructive, artistic expression towards each other. NOFX also loaned propagandhi the money to open g7, which only releases shit in Canada anyway. Fat Wreck releases all propagandhi stuff in the US. That's the basic tenant of radicalism, imp. If something is wrong, fucking reject it. Don't let it slide. |

| Against Me! – Searching for a Former Clarity Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
drop the sellout routine, in the end they aren't working for bush/cheney or dropping any bombs. they're on our side. slashing their tires and pushing them away just makes all this drama so much worse. A lot of Tom's recent songs make me think he's really sick though. |

| Dropkick Murphys – Worker's Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
i have mixed feeling about songs like this. a lot of this music glorifying the working class does is create more class stratification. yeah, as if massive profits and killing us for the bottom line don't. |

| Alkaline Trio – Warbrain Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
i believe both of matt's parents (for sure his mother was a nurse or somethign related in vietnam) served in vietnam and were involved in medical fields. this song is probably abotu vietnam. hit the ground running is a term used for soldiers dropping in hot into vietnam under fire. the copter doesn't land, they jump out running. he probably refers running on empty to their minds, hearts, or stomachs when they fought. before we brought the horse's in before the storm of '59'! of 59' [x2] you bring your horses inside before any violent storms. he's saying the US enter into Vietnam is a storm. the strom of US entering into a big shitfest. |

| Propagandhi – Life At Disconnect Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Had they been the ones dying under the cooking sun, picking through the dust, scratching at the barren earth, had it been THEIR insides spilling into the sand, they’d see on cracking land their spirit cannot triumph. I'm thinking this intitial wording is about putting those in power in place of the "illegals" that try to find a better place in developed countries. I'm not sure about "their spirit cannot triumph", maybe it is related to the various speeches world leaders give on the human spirit and overcoming tragedy in really horrible situation? Prepare for this one to make you flinch in disbelief. When you catch a glimpse of those just following the paths that got us to where we are. Who are these human shadows with still-beating hearts? Scratching at the door to our paradise. Why do corpses litter the road? Who are these humans? So this is paradise. Beyond the distant hands of the world. I know for sure this is about more immigration, or more bluntly, escape. This paradise is probably relating to East Timor (sp?) or another country near the ocean with a good tourism climate; yet, these countries have huge gaps between the rich and poor and their governments commit terrible crimes against the average person. Here we all think we don’t belong but still bow our heads to our Emperors. I believe this is talking about our opposition in North America. We think everything is so fucked up and we do so much armchair preaching. Still, we fail to act out against these horrible injustices. If it really mattered to us, we wouldn't take any of this sitting down and direct action would rule our lives. Is this all there is? Maybe we really have nothing to say. Maybe we truly are just shallow and lame and we’re all just waiting for the end, the spectacle, or some kind of catastrophe to bring us back to earth to stun our ever nodding heads. I guess this is about us feeling important in our stuggle. Maybe we aren't any different and it's all for nothing? Maybe we're just better off dead instead of never being able to do enough to make things really change, to REALLY make a difference. To introduce us once again to the one incorruptible as she flushes us from her veins. Kills us to live again. The one incorruptible- maybe that's mother earth? She's killing us to survive. In case you wonder - I’m not trying to be cynical. I know how you feel - If your life’s disconnect. In case you wonder - “What the fuck’s wrong with me?” If it all makes sense you’re the furthest fucking gone. In case you wonder, he's not trying to be a hopeless pessimist and not believe in human triumph. It's weird that those of us truly for one human race and those of us that truly view most people as our brothers and sisters, that we suffer the most for it. It's saying not to worry, that if nothing makes sense and you feel a pain in your stomach everytime you look at the news and see more corporate control and dominance over the world- that is okay! that if you don't panic at the state of the world, then you're wrong. you're broken. it's not us, it's you that needs to open your eyes. They’ve got badges that they cover with their hands while they’re bashing your fucking head. They’ve got graveyards that they’ll fill with that head if you start getting anywhere. Police (at least in America) have been caught on tape covering their badges while beating mostly African American suspects. And obviously, usually the prevailing order begins a round of oppression once you start making a viable resistance movement to fight their system which makes them riches at the cost of the blood, sweat, and life of the world's common person. AIM was just one victim. I won’t pretend that we’re on the winning end. But when did that matter before anyway? That never mattered before anyway. The ending of this song seems to have the singer resolve back to the fight. He, or if a girl wrote the lyrics, or she decides that we've always held despair over winning or losing this fight against injustice (justice is relative i guess), oppression, and violence used to put the majority of the world's population down. He/she recognizes the importance of character and strength of heart in keeping on the struggle despite the obvious feelings of a lack of real progress. |

| music represents different cultures, until you grow up like most of these musicians do, fuckin' respect it. I can't beleive you call other people stupid an close-minded when you're being exactly that by generalizing. If you think all rap is about bitches and hoes, listen to Slugg. There are all sorts of subjects in rap, Lud writes about growing up in "growing pains". | |

| Alkaline Trio – Bloodied Up Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| nick, shut up dude. enough shit talking on the internet. you hate matt, go tell him at a show and see where it gets you- it's gonna be hard to type with a broken wrist. they aren't selling out, they are letting more and morek ids listen to the music man. if they wanted to make incredibile money they'd sign to a truly major record label and make whatever music sounds the best. just because a band makes different music or a new video doesn't mean they changed on purpose TO SELL more records, they just did it becauseh aving the same fuckin music would suck, i wouldn't want to play the same shit every day, and to expose their great band to more kids, whether they fuckin go home and download it or buy the cd, no matter | |
| Alkaline Trio – All On Black Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Sweet blasphemy, my giving tree It hasn't rained in years I bring to you this sacrificial offering of virgin ears Leave it to me, I remain free from all the comforts of home (of home) And where that is, I'm pleased as piss to say, "I'll never really know" i think he's saying it hasn't rained, or he hasn't met anyone new, like the vampire analogy he needs another person like someone needs water sort of thing. and to satan he brings the listener as a sacrifice. and when he talks about home i think he means he doesn't believe in heavne or hell so he's free from having to believe in either one. and he's glad he'll never know, kind of like syaing they don't exist he'll just die? |
