I think this song is a medly about life ending and the end of long relationship. It's sick and twisted and beautiful, all at the same time. He's in a relationship that has run its course and someone he cares about deeply is about to leave him. The long december is the cold and lonely end to both of those emotional endings. In the ending he feels optimistic that he'll get through all of it. |

this song is so brilliant it blows my fucking mind! I can't ever stop singing it. It's like every corny song you ever make up while your waiting for the subway or taking a crap....Or maybe that's just me. It says everything in a minute that most pop songs wish they could say in a fortnight. It's the whole Big fish/small pond...small fish/big pond thing. Freaking brilliant. |

this song means everything to me. It says that it's easy to go home because that's where everything is easy. Your old friends, your old lover. Take the job your dad had, and never open up yourself up to the possibility of what else is out there. I wish I had listened to Michael's advice a little more. |
