This just goes to show you, that Reel Big Fish, even though they complain about sell outs and their fans, really care. It feels rewarding to hear this song, 'cause it's as if he's actually speaking to you. I'm proud to stand by this band through all of their musical ventures. They never sold out. They need to be popular for that to happen, anyway. They changed a good number of their members so they needed to change a little. Watch their DVD, it shows us that just because the new album seems like they've gone soft, their still Reel Big Fish and that will never change. If you think their Sell Outs, listen to Down in Flames and actually listen to the lyrics. Maybe you'll gain a brain cell. |

But people can like pot that much? Drugs are drugs. Cigarettes and Marijuana are both addictive, they're both dangerous in their own respects and they both have very loyal fans. This is from a band that existed in the 70's and 80's, so Marijuana songs would be unheard of. Jimi Hendrix is the only exception. |

sh4vo is right. I downloaded the reading festival and instead of "Holland! Holland!" he says "we arrrre drugs!" So basically the whole thing is a metaphor. |

No offense to System or anything, but this is possibly Serj's worst singing job. His voice bounces around in the chorus a little off-key and off-tune. Mind you, this is one of SOAD's have-fun-with songs, in that it isn't a song they expect anyone to really pay attention to. This song and Bounce are good examples. This song DOES have a meaning, though, and in my opinion I believe its about corruption. Homelessness, drug addiction and prostitution; that kind of thing. |

Gimme a sec.. while a stop laughing to death. He he, ok I'm done. Now lets recap history a little. Marijuana is a safe drug in that it takes a very long time for it to do serious harm. The only instantly dangerous effect is that it is a "gateway drug". In simpleton terms, it makes you want to try more dangerous drugs. Now, most artists who believe that drugs make you more creative would do Marijuana, which has a low content of opium making your brain power still as functional as before. Moving on, way back in the victorian age, poets would do a different drug (don't remember its name) that had a very high opium content. And looking at poets like Lewis Caroll (Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass) his poems after his more famous stuff becomes worse and worse because his brain became more effected by the opium. And by the way, if you pay attention to Peephole, Serj sings about how to be sensible about drug content. You know, don't overdoit or anything. Point proven; end of story! |

What an odd contradiction! A lot of you claimed to be aetheists or pagans or what-not, when in fact, Disturbed is an unbelievably christian band! Me being an anglican, I'm the shunned half of christianity, so I miss out on the quotes, etc. Anyway, I like this song, but after watching wrestling every couple of weeks, I got sick of it. I've been reading alot of SOAD reactions and I'm getting pissed off with the idea that they are Anarchists! They don'y want to get rid of government, they want to show the listeners that the gov't has problems and are not perfect. It's an awareness thing, not an Anarchy thing! |

A lot of this song is put into the music video. As you already know Kombucha Mushroom People are people who made the "magical" Kombucha Mushroom Tea during WWII. Hence the army soldier. Whenever our favorite guitarist said "Sugar" we saw a pie and the flashing words "Asperative Kills." Now the rest of the MV makes sense except this part. Asperatives are Artificial Sweetners, what does that have to do with anything? |

I am here only to discuss the music video and its possible relation to the actual song. Now in Chop Suey! we see Serj and the rest of the band going in and out of each other and Serj making some hilarious facial expressions. The only connection to the song is the brief part in which SOAD eats some chinese food (ya think it's chop suey?). My only comment to this song is that at the end SOAD sounds very emotional... Is there a deep deep meaning to this song? |
