I may be going out on a limb with this but I agree with whitetide. Sort of. I think it has to do with a relationship with a mother, only I think it is more about both emotional and financial neglect. "Eating snow flakes with plastic forks And a paper plate of course, you think of everything"--I think the "you think of everything" part is bitter sarcasm. "Short love with a long divorce And a couple of kids of course They don't mean anything"--Explaining his neglect. "Goddamn I am such a jerk, I can't do anything"--Possibly what his mother has said to him? "And I shout that you're all fakes And you should have seen the look on your face And I guess that's what it takes When comparing your bellyaches"--I see this as the mother/family ignoring their problems and putting on a front to everyone. "And it's been a long time Which agrees with this watch of mine And I guess that I miss you, and I'm sorry if I dissed you:--Looses touch with said mother but still loves and misses her.
