| The Mountain Goats – There Will Always Be an Ireland Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I dont think this is any more complicated than a romantic song about homesick Irish ex-patriots. They are living in a strange, foreign country, seperated from friends and family. But Ireland is still there, and it will always be there. |

| The Mountain Goats – The Best Ever Death Metal Band in Denton Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Like John said, its not written about anyone in particular, but I think it was on the Zoop bootleg John said something along the lines of 'a song that I wrote FOR two guys I worked with who had been fucked by the junk, and I thought, my god, if only they could have had access to the records I had when I was fifteen, they might have been alright' | |

| Two people hiding from the nazis in Warsaw. The nazis know that someone is hiding where they are, so one sacrifices themselves for the other. As they walk out they send a hidden signal to the other by making as a heart to them (come out with your hands up). | |

I remember Malkmus mentioning in an interview once that he enjoyed watching cricket. I must admit that Im really not sure about what this song is about, but anyways I like pcontos/racazip's idea. The song mentions a 'wicket keeper' (field position in cricket for the folks who dont follow it). Anyways, in the 80's-90's in Australian cricket at least there were a lot of people who would nude up and run out onto the field. Might have something to do with it. Just a thought anyways, willing to be wrong. :-) |

| MxPx – Self Serving With A Purpose Lyrics | 23 years ago |

boy... everyone here is talking bout their favourite mxpx songs, how is it that noone has picked up on this one? This is without a doubvt the best mxpx song (at least thats what I think this week). Lets face it, all the mxpx emo stuff is good, but it gets a little repetative. Or maybe Im just getting old and a little jaded... well, better stop before aI drift off into a ramble. God Bless everyone, perhaps you should think on this for a little: Phi 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. |

| Bush – The Chemicals Between Us Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| Really seems to be to be talking about the demhumanisation of love, breaking it down into simple hormonal consciousness and nothing more. All human interactions are nothing more than reponses to pass on blind genes. Frightening thought. | |

| Bush – The Disease of the Dancing Cats Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| This song seems to be about the Minamata disaster. Basically what happened was the fertiliser company Chisso dumped its waste products (containing a heck of a lot of mecury and other nasties) into Minamata bay (I suspect because it was cheaper). Well, anyways, the fishermen who used Minamata bay started eating the fish like they always had, and their cats did too. The cats showed the first signs of mecury poising, having smaller body mass, hence the song title. It was only a matter of time before the same affects started to be noticed in humans.... | |

| I think this is actually a mistake. The lyrics here are not the ones for this song. Or maybe Im wrong... Well, someone is anyways, but no stress :-) | |
| Dave Matthews Band – The Last Stop Lyrics | 23 years ago |

I dont think this song is denying that Christ died for the sins of mankind, there is a lot of christian references in there though, and it might be worth reviewing them, least give you my opinion of the song anyways. I think that the emphasis on Christ and 'Peace' is in fact a reference to the prophescy of Isaiah, in Isaiah 9:6, here Jesus is referred to as the 'Prince of Peace', this idea is also reflected in his life and teachings. What the song is getting at is how can people who claim to come in the name of the 'Prince of Peace' bring such hate, torment and suffering to the world? The inquistitions and the conquest of the Americas comes readily to mind. The answer is, as rasberry2003 points out, is that they are hypocrites. They claim to be righteous, but their actions show otherwise, they are filled with hate and greed and lust. These kinds of people were around in Jesus' day, they were called the Pharisees, and they are still around today. The Pharisees were the very people who plotted to kill Jesus, with the help of Judas, they carried out their plot, so it was these hypocrites who were 'nailing good to a tree'. Jesus talks about these people and how they existed before his time as well, how they murdered the prophets of God, and how the pharisees are just like them, matthew 23:27-39. one last bit before I finish, the expression 'nailing good to a tree' is am allusion to 1 Peter 2:24 'Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.' Well, its kinda long, so Im sorry if it takes a while to read, thanks for listening. |
