This is probably the best song on the album that much of the public has not heard. Most people are probably only familiar with "Semi-Charmed Life," which is an EXCELLENT song, but "Motorcyle Drive-By" is like an undiscovered treasure to many. Stephan's lyrics really get to the root of the emotions, and he doesn't waste his words. He just nails it with this song. This is definitely one of my favorite songs of all time. |

Pretty sad song. I think it's talking about a guy and a girl who seem to going through hard times together. They're both dealing with their problems and he relies on her, then he goes off and drinks, leaving her with nobody.
The thing I'm confused about is the line "a palm upturned burnt blue." My initial thought was something to do with physical abuse. Not quite sure though. |

I love this song. I like how the lines "when you're nothing but a boyfriend/dangling by a thread/keep in mind the bottom line/diamonds are a girls's best friend" ties in with the last line "it's good to know that just like sex it can be paid for."

Probably my favorite JTB song. The lyrics are well-written and emotional. It's such a sad song, and it never fails to have some kind of effect on me whenever I listen to it. Just a beautifully crafted song with amazing imagery. |

Flat, boring song with unimaginative lyrics. It is horribly written and has absolutely no depth.
Just because MTV plays this song nonstop does not mean it is a good song. It is merely popular. Essentially, "Complicated" is a dumbed-down, catchy song that hardly proves Avril has a talent for songwriting. |
