It kinda seems to me like the guy is totally despairing about American politics and political issues and he's going to take a stand by not voting for anyone in November. I love this song and Maroon 5, but I'm bothered by how often they switch from "you" to "her." (Not just in this song either but in almost all of them!) Even when a song is clearly written about one girl, the lyrics go from "I love you" to "I love her" and back again almost constantly. Too spastic for my taste... |

I was on a dance team that did a dance to this song, and I just gotta say, it's the most obnoxious song I've ever heard. The dance was months ago and even now, hearing the opening notes of "Boom Boom" makes me sick to my stomach. The Ying Yang Twins are especially obnoxious here. ("ShortAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAy!" It's enough to make you want to kill yourself.) And why the hell does the song say "She [Britney Spears] think she fine"? I think every guy out there will agree that it's not just Britney Spears who thinks Britney Spears is fine. |

I find it interesting that the lyrics say: "A helpless victim of a spider's web/ and I'm an insect..." The only way an insect would ever have anything to do with a spider's web would be if it was stuck! (Spiders aren't insects, they're arachnids. Insects have 6 legs, arachnids have 8... etc.) So even if Adam Levine meant that the girl's a victim of a spider's web and he's the spider who's coming to eat her (or whatever), what he ended up saying was they're both insects who could end up tangled/are tangled in someone else's web. That could make sense, except the rest of the song implies that it's all Adam Levine's fault. ("...the things that I have done and said," etc.)
...Though of course, the name of the song is "Tangled." Maybe Maroon 5 IS talking about two insects tangled in someone else's web. (I doubt it though.) |

The lyrics could also say "Just for a minute, or to do you." (As in, to sleep with you.) They sound the same. And another possible sex reference: "...someone you let in." (Or maybe I'm just a nympho who finds sexual undertones in everything!) I love this song, especially the part about saying 'I love you' and not meaning it- so true! |

I think I'd like this song more if John Mayer didn't sing it. Coming from him, it just seems too obnoxious. I'd rather hear an underrated, struggling artist sing about how they're going to make it someday than an overrated, established one. I didn't like HEAVIER THINGS at all, it was much too jazzy for me and it just didn't live up to any earlier stuff. Maybe JM, who always wanted to be a jazz artist, figures he can just turn jazz now that he has a large fanbase. (Would most of his 'fans' even notice?) But it's not up to me to question his methods... |

The liquid diet could be a reference to tears (Is Chris Carrabba man enough to cry?). Crying does dull your senses. And tears would be a "new diet" because he didn't cry all the time when he was dating the lucky girl (we hope). I don't think it's a reference to alcohol, but that's just me. Either way, I love this song! |

It's about a man who goes insane staring at a border in his house who has an evil eye, so he smothers the boarder. He chops him up and puts him under the floorboards. The police show up because a neighbor says he heard a scream. The man talks to the police, but can hear the beat of the boarder's heart so he confesses. Definitely not "My Bloody Valentine." |
