Not too sure on this one ... What is it that pre-clayman fans of inflames love? I think foremost the cryptic lyrics that seem to make sense anyways ... yet this new album sounds like an angsty 13 year old trying to make up dark poems to impress some Goth chick in high school. The Guitars have always been impressive ... Yet I felt this album (Soundtrack) didn’t have the force of the last few. Mind you, when reroute to remain came out I thought it was a load of crap for the first few months, and stored it away ... when I took it out again and picked it apart, I figured in some areas it was their best stuff. all albums have good and bad elements. Unfortunately, the single for this album to me, and to a lot of fans as a let down ... Remember people; these guys for the longest time were considered one of 'Sweeden's Finest' .... This particular single just doesn’t add up. The album as a whole compared to others; there is less imagery, and seemingly less imagination. Its darker, yes .. but darkness has been done so many times … classic inflames was great because it could pick you up and empower you… they have this style of making you think of your negative shit to get your self esteem down, but remind you that you can rise up and overcome it to counter it… that’s why I love these guys … but in recent days, I’m just not feeling the power. Jesters race, Colony, and Clayman were prime examples of what this band can do …. (Its kind of like comparing old starwars flicks, to the new films.) These classic albums contained all of the best elements of inflames .. lyrically, vocally, instrumentally, melody, and seer appeal to emotion. Reroute to remain had some of that feeling .. but there was something unsettling about it, because personally, I was saying ‘where are they going with this’? it seemed they were trying to make new impressions … but to what end…? The instrumentals these days are not what many of us are used to. We seem to be going backwards instead of forwards. Maybe the guys are not ‘feeling it’ as they used to. They may figure they are on top and don’t have to work so hard anymore. Who knows … If you don’t like the newer stuff, you should be able to say how you feel about it without a bunch of people new to the band trying to shut you down. Many of us feel very intensely about this group, and take it personally when some n00b tries to say it rocks when we know this isn’t something to be proud of. We will always have the older stuff to fall back on, but please don’t try to glorify a force that was once powerful, trying to turn tail and march with the ranks of the screem-o kids … many of us old-timers feel betrayed. |

| Furthermore if you consider the 'flaking snow' .. snow flakes are short lived but memorible .. possibly similar to many kind deeds which are preformed daily. | |

Just Saw InFlames live for the first time last night ... i dont know if i've ever seen men so majestic in my life ... They were like Kings.. i was right in front .. i wish you all could have seen them. Regarding Drav's post ... i remember Grade 11 english .. we were taught that white represented purity. Heriosm and emblems may have something to do with virtues and moral codes. if you tie this in with the concept of 'purity' then one may conclude that this verse may stress the importance of living a 'moral' or 'heroic' life in the service and aid of others. Maybe the character in the song regrets not having lived this way as he dies since the song hints at mortality. |
