At the risk of sounding unpopular I'm gonna have to say that this song is about Christ's crucifiction.... He died for our sins. In my opinion it's frome Christ's Point of view. the lyrics Cold in life's throws, I'll fall asleep for you Cold in life's throws, I only ask you turn away to me means that Jesus died for us and now we need to turn away from our sins etc.... well.... that's my opinion.... The notion of selling out is shit. So what if a radio station picks up a song or two??? | This is my favourite Rancid Song and i'm, so sick of people calling me a fake because of it. I first heard this song when i would have been in grade 4 - 9 years old!!! I only ever heard it a couple of times but it stayed with me for ages and once i'd escaped the teeny - bopper phase thrust on me by my big sister i found a Rancid Cd gave it a spin and freaked out to hear a song i hadn't heard in 5 or 6 years. It was this band that got me interested in ska / punk music and the clash and it was this song that i held in my memory for ages. | |

the first few times i hear this i thought it was about Jesus and i still think it has some connections to Jesus but i agree with lazyforelife. i reckon it's about someone who got high cos of lines about smoking, then rising up above everything... then the guys floats back down. to me these are all metaphors about the stages of getting high... |

| it's hard to analysize songs you haven't written yourself and when it comes to this song i think everyone brings there own experiences to it and there isn't one clear cut meaning. this song helps me unwind after a shit-filled week or day. it makes me cry and makes me smile. for me it's about believing in yourself and that you can't go back and change the past but you have a certain amount of control over the future, you just have to find the courage to step forward and make something of it. | |
