VH1 Storytellers: "I was 17 years old. I was hitchhiking from Orlando to Daytona. That was my plan for the weekend. And I met this girl, as you do when you're 17, and we had this great week together, and we were headed back to her place. That was the big plan. We were going to go to Tampa because she lived in Tampa. Somewhere in the middle of the road, she just stopped the car and kicked me out. Like, she pulled over. I was sleeping, and she just opened the door. She said, 'listen, this just isn't going to work out, and you know, sorry, and thanks for playing.' And she kind of kicked me out on the side of the road, and she didn't even take me to my exit, and I thought, you know, b***h. And it's funny because when you're 17, everything, you know, you watch a lot of John Hughes movies, and everything is a big affair of the heart, and everything is huge. And now, you know, not so much. Now it is just kind of a character building, funny story. But at the time that messed me up, so I wrote a song about it." www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJOADPhnQXc |

| The Early November – Never Coming Back Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I always thought it was Dean singing to his grandma in her last hours of life. I can picture him sitting next to her at her valuing what he had and wanting to make her as comfortable as possible. Even though it was just written for the story cd, it's still my favorite song by the band. |

| He Is Legend – Suave Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
sounds to me like it's about sexual impurity. the pills would be ecstasy or other such drugs. then after it wears off they realize that they shouldn't have done what they did. but they try to justify it with the "everybody else does it" excuse. he knows what he's doing is wrong, but his mind is "so x-rated" that he doesn't stop. since He Is Legend is a Christian band, i don't think my explanation is too unlikely. |

| Interpol – Length of Love Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
i don't know how to submit edits, so i'll write it here. i don't know the meaning, but these are the actual lyrics from www.interpolny.com This could be destiny, sweetheart I've had no sense of time since we started this thing out I've got friends in need, sweetheart I've grown lengths and lengths and lengths of love since we started this thing out Combat salacious removal There is a bitter breed, oh sweetheart They will be watching you sometimes With their bitter hearts But we are through with these We are shifting the heartach We want strong summer love, the most robust of blood Just to stay awake Combat salacious removal i know a few things are different that what he actually sings, (ex: written is "sweetheart" and he sings "oh sweetheart") but this is direct from the website. |

to absentlySocial: based on the fact that this is a christian band, i would assume that this song does involve him trying to help his nonchristian friend find God. however, i do like the boondock saints paraphrase you included in your comment. |

| Rage Against the Machine – Killing In The Name Lyrics | 22 years ago |

i like how everybody here thinks they are better and more correct than everybody else. I used to assume that this song was about rasism (that's just the "burning crosses"), but now i think of it more metaphorically and I believe that that line is just saying that many people of authority discriminate in all sorts of ways, and think that they are immune because they are "wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites." The end of this song is telling those people (actually fewer than most anti-gov't fans believe) that they will be held accountable. |

| Guns N' Roses – Civil War Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| In response to what nemisis58 said, the war right now (in Iraq) fills that description to a T. Bush is going in for obvious reasons of oil, and Dick Cheney's contracting company has the bid to rebuild Iraq after we destroy all the buildings. The rich get richer, and the poor.....die. | |
| MxPx – Buildings Tumble Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| Now that I know where it came from, does anybody actually know the answer to my question? | |
| Pennywise – Bro Hymn (Tribute) Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| I saw Pennywise last night and there were about 50 people up on stage watching/singing this. It was awesome! | |
| Pennywise – Fuck Authority Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| There is not much meaning behind this song besides the obvious. I saw Pennywise last night and they said, "To all those people that have power and abuse it, you can suck my dick!" | |
| MxPx – Buildings Tumble Lyrics | 23 years ago |

Does "Let the weak say I am strong..." mean 1) Let them say it, we know it isn't true, so it doesn't matter or 2) Let them say it so they can believe it and become strong? |

| Why do what our elders say? They screwed up the world in their time, we don't need that! | |
| The Living End – All Torn Down Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| "important people" don't see that the smaller housing projects are actually people's homes. | |
| Jack Johnson – It's All Understood Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| "The good book is good/and that's well understood/so don't even question if you know what i mean" that line is my favorite. Nobody questions their faith, but if you don't how can you tell if it is perfect. All those headstrong, closed-mined people take this line literally, but I believe Jack means it sarcastically. | |
