i think it is a person contrasting the reality of god in their life with the institutions of the church, like he is trying to simplify his beliefs to avoid conflict: and to love: a god and to fear: a flame (damnation) and to those who are right (righteous) or wrong (wicked) or meek or strong, it's apparent. I think it is a wonderfully indirect and creative way to express these feelings. Realizing the difference between the higher power you believe in and religious organizations is a really difficult and strange time in anyone's life. I also love the line, "it's the way we sing that makes 'em dream." |

| I think this song is about sex with groupies. Anthony was known for his numerous and young girlfriends, I could only imagine what he's like on the road. I agree that it is about a rather unhealthy relationship, and i think that the song doesn't try to hide that. It has a distinctly different and less appreciative tone than some of their other 'love' songs. Also, on the record, he doesn't say "Still I waited..." he says "Silveretta." It's on the liner notes. | |

| Before we were together, I told my ex that this as my favorite eric clapton song. He played it the first time he kissed me. It was on the radio the night we broke up, which is weird because i have been listening to the same station for several years and have not heard it before or since. | |
