| They Might Be Giants – If I Wasn't Shy Lyrics

Basically I think it's a song about a fairly timid man reflecting on all the things he would do if he weren't so timid. It's about someone wishing he had a spine. |

I think, and I"m not totally sure on this, but I think that the Cartoon Network "Rolling" video came out AFTER "El Oso" was released and after the band broke up in 2000. But then, I haven't exactly been watching Cartoon Network religiously. |

"The charred remains of the holy rollers
Scream repentance though it's far too late"
This seems to be talking about the Southern Baptist types that are always all like "Repent and find Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee-sussss!!" and how all their work was for naught as in the end they all died the same gruesome death.
I dunno, the whole thing seems to have an anti-Christian theme to it. |

Perhaps it's about a man being stoned? The lyrics seem to be in the nonsensical looping train of thought of a stoned person. Not that I would know anything about being stone. Nope. |

| Soul Coughing – Down To This Lyrics

Doughty was stoned while working at the Knitting Factory. He was in charge of something to do with lists and a co-worker was in charge of tickets. Doughty was singing, "You've got the tickets and I've got the list!" over and over. Annoyed the hell out of his co-worker. He later tried various things that sounded the same and settled on "ankles and wrists." |

| Soul Coughing – Is Chicago, Is Not Chicago Lyrics
| 23 years ago

He was hopped up on Goofballs in Chicago and was pointing at various things sayin, "Is Chicago!" and would then point to himself and say "Is not Chicago!"
It amused him for hours on end and he ended up writing it into a song. |

| Soul Coughing – You Lucky Dog Lyrics

Fark!! I forgot to add the last part:
Her skin is cool, the music swirls around her hips,
but I can't get lost in there and shake the picture of your lips well,
I read your letter twice, I read it while she slept.
Your world loop in my head while she invites me deeper, deeper.

| Mad Season – River of Deceit Lyrics

This was the first Mad Season song I ever stumbled across. It was, as per the norm, misattributed to Alice In Chains on Napster (RIP) and all I could say was: Wow. This is absolutely fucking amazing. Why wasn't it released?
And then in a conversation I was having with a friend he was like, "Oh, that plays on the radio all the time here." That was how I was introduced to Mad Season. I couldn't believe my ears when I picked up my copy of "Above." Layne Staley's beatiful voice on a blues sounding album. I fell in love and was waiting for the second album that I was hoping would come. It never came. Mad Season fell apart, and Staley died.
Man, that was a total let down for me. |

Most of the lyrics of this song are actually from an unreleased Soul Coughing song called "Freelancer." The other ex-members of Soul Coughing tried to sue Doughty over it, but nothing was made of it. |
