| I know John Davis used to work in a morgue before he went to the music business. Perhaps this tied into the song? | |
| Metallica – ...And Justice for All Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| Personally this is my favorite song. It is extremely long and compelling. The thought is deep and has great meaning. The guitars and drum beats go wonderful together. Needs a bit of bass, but it is still wonderful. I love how there are so many transitions throughout the song. Metallica kicks ass! | |

| I agree with king nothing. By the way, nice comments of SOAD also. I believe this song is inspired by the 50's and 60's when the cold war took place. | |
| Metallica – The Shortest Straw Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| that is right weaselfierce. This song is about blacklisting during the 50's when americans hunted down any communist believing human. This fits well on this album because it is obvious disorder of our nation. This disrupted the very ammendment that founded our nation, the first ammendment. Freedom to assembly. People were paranoid and did "witchhunts" like during 1600's - searching for the different. | |
| Metallica – Thorn Within Lyrics | 23 years ago |

This song is about a man that is accused of something, even though his father was part of it. His father downs him and denies the guilt. Read the lyrics, it makes sense. The lyrics are wrong, too. These are the true lyrics: Forgive me father For I have sinned Find me guilty of the life I feel within When I'm branded This mark of shame Should I look down disgraced Or straight ahead and know that you must blame I am, I am the secret I am, I am the sin I am, I am the guilty And I, I am the thorn within Forgive me father For I have sinned Find me guilty when true guilt is from within So point your fingers Point right at me For I am shadows and will follow you one and the same are we I am, I am the secret I am, I am the sin I am, I am the guilty And I, I am the thorn within I do your time I take your fall I'm branded guilty for us all So point your fingers Point right at me For I am shadows and will follow you One and the same are we I am, I am your secrets I am, I am your sin I am, I am your guilty And I, I am the thorn within I am the thorn within |

| Metallica – The Outlaw Torn Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| This doesn't have to do with the meaning of the song, but, all you guitar players out there: is there not a bass riff in this song? It is played during the quiet parts of the song. Before the very first lyrics "and now i wait my whole lifetime" there is a quiet part. Turn up the volume and you can hear bass notes. Is this just a tuned down guitar string or can the guitar not hit this low of a note? Why isn't newsted in the song credits if it is base? Is it a roadie? Geez... | |
| Metallica – The Call of Ktulu Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| Think of the talent and power of this song. Have you tried to play this? Extremely complicated. Not only does it sound masterful, but it is original in the notion that it probably couldn't be covered by anybody else in the world. The difference of this song from their normal songs is it lacks vocals. Who cares? Nobody gives a shit if Burton didn't play in some of the older songs. Why are vocals so important. I am not trying to disagree with anybody. Everybody has the right to their own opinion and free to speak their mind. In my opinion, this is a great masterpiece. | |

This song can have two meanings. Listed above is one. Think about this one: the song talks about abortion. The lyrics support this idea also. "My life suffocates" -embryo being killed "Planting the seeds of hate" -abortion pill or unwanted sperm "Been cheated of my youth" -can't live out childhood "You turn the lies to truth" -mother makes reality of abortion |

| Yeah, pleased to be the first metallica fan to write in my opinion. This is a great song. I didn't like it at first - i thought it was kinda blatant. Then I realized the meaning and it kinda applies to a lot of people. It is about a person that feels sorrow for himself and he feeds on the sorrow of others. Basically, this individual is digging themself into a deeper whole to eat the sorrow. | |
| System of a Down – Bounce Lyrics | 23 years ago |

This is simply my opinion, it does not mean it is correct. I believe that SOAD is too deep and issue-rising to write about something so vague as sex. They write songs about corruption. I interperet this song as corruption of our own social ways, especially at a highschool level. I think SOAD wrote this song in a funny way to make us realize how insanely ridiculous our social system is. Explanation? The pogo stick is the spot light for say. One person has the spot light, but has to forcefully bring it upon themselves (i brought my pogo stick just to show her a trick). This person bounces on the pogo stick to get attention from everyone, thus becoming popular. SOAD may be using this anology to reveal how ridiculous we really are in trying to succede socially. So basically, we are fucked up at a social level. |
