Does anyone else think that 'Jesus' actually refer to Jesus. Deeply christian/catholic people are sometimes told that Jesus should be the only man in their life (like Nuns), if they ever mention men, the young girls will be told that its sinful to be even thinking about it (This does still happen). Anyway the song finds her when she's losing her faith and she finds a man she likes that's good to her ('talks like a gentleman') but he's not Jesus who she was told to devote her life too and she's torn. Her old ways are the devote times she spent that she doesn't really do or believe in any more. Maybe the mountain she has to climb represents how difficult it is to go against your faith, although i have no idea what the hurricane is about. The last two lines He doesn't look a thing like Jesus But more than you'll ever know To me this is her deciding that he doesn't look like Jesus and she's not strong enough to go against her faith; but he will be her saviour, she just doesn't know it. |

This song feels like the singer is talking about a friend who feels so guilty about something it hurts. He feels so guilty that he almost personifies the guilt, ('he's being hanging round for days'; 'he'll get to you'). And no matter how hard he tries to get away from the guilt he can't avoid it because it's inside his head ('you've changed the locks 3 times, he still comes reeling through the door'). Thom is just trying to explain that the reason the guilt feels so bad is that he's doing it to himself (someone he can't get away from) and you have to pull yourself together, cause no-one else can help you with this. Don't really get how the song relates to the video, anyone have any suggestions. |

| I think it's about a couple who broke but are still around each other, he still loves her and wants to be in her life but she doesn't pay him any attention anymore. I think they broke up because she was very fussy and always wanted him to be something he wasn't, so she dumped him. I think he's trying to tell her he loves her so much he's done everything she's asked of him, he's even changed himself for good to be with her. I like npchong's idea of the 'shiver' bit but i reckon shiver is refering to the way in which she shows her feeling to everyone, she acts shy, quiet and withdrawn (like you would if were cold and shivering) so people feel sorry for her. The song is trying to say that she doesn't need to shiver because he's right there in front of her and he'll always be there. Like Spork says a little stalker-ish but its a great song. | |
