the lyrics come from an actual letter from a girl named Janelle. Craig said in an AP interview that she summed things up better than he could, so he lifted the words from the letter.
I think this is the best song the band has ever written. It's light years ahead of everything in the past. |

Buddy has to be one of the worst lyricists ever. Like my friend said tonight, there's retarded kindergarten students who could write better lyrics. They try so hard to be morbid and shocking but it just comes across as an incredibly juvenile and fake. Also, Buddy's voice isn't anything astounding on CD, but during live performances he has the most ridiculously off-key and flat vocals ever. Saves the Day blew them off the stage on this fall's co-headlining tour. |

I, too, used this song to open up a mixtape (well, CD, haha) that I concocted recently. The girl just got it today, she told me that she loved the CD, so that's a good sign. This was the second one I sent her, she liked both of them. But this song, I think, really tells people what the point of sending a mixtape is -- some people don't catch the message in them, but rather they think you're just trying to turn them on to some of your favorite bands or something. I'm so glad this girl knew what I was getting at -- like the first time I talked to her after that she told me how much she had read into all the lyrics and how sweet she thought it was for me to do that for her. She rocks. |
