This is my favorite Dispatch song but I don't think it is about an ex at all. I consider it more of a lust song than a love song, but with more of a reflective meaning to it. I think it is about a beautiful woman this guy is attracted but never really met yet. He sees her everyday and wants to get her attention (Hey! Hey!) but no matter what he tries it just doesn't work. (she took the bait right off of that hook) He then begins to wonder why he wants to get inside of her mind if she doesn't seem to care about him (question yourself). Maybe it is not really worth it to begin with. If he did finally get her and happened to have a setback in life (fall down) it would just burdern her and hold her back. After all... she doesn't care. In a nutshell I think this song is recognizing when you are focusing on the wrong things in life (such as a beautiful woman who doesn't want you in return). Sometimes what you want and what is best for you are two different things. |
