i love the chorus to this. there isn't a reason to be proud of your skin or where you're from- you can't control that. you SHOULD be proud of who you are though, because you DO control that. saying you're proud to be an american is stupid. it means absolutely nothing. |

ahh, my favorite song by the distillers. they are so amazing. this song does have to do with some serious stuff, but it's presented so well. they still manage to be upbeat and the song does have a positive message, but it's not cheesy or depressing. sometimes when you feel like shit, you want to listen to something that's a little more... happy sounding.

i love the last line in this song- "If you don't fight to make things better then you're the one betraying the country". there are a lot of people who need to realize that if you're trying to change something it means you care about it, and silence does nothing to help.
and roxygurlll, i was just wondering about your comment. i don't see how you can not have a problem with the government but still agree with what anti-flag says, but whatever floats your boat :) |

this is probably my favorite anti-flag song. the lyrics are so accurate, it's almost creepy. they hit close to home, especially now. these ten steps haven't only been done by america- they've been done by all countries involved in any war. unfortunately, they always have been and probably always will. and some people will fall for them everytime.
i'm ashamed to admit this, but i don't own any anti-flag cds- i just have a ton of mp3s. i'd like to get one, but i don't know which one. i know and like several songs from each one. anyone feel like giving me some advice on what to get first? thanks. |

ahh, this song is great. it's definitely about war, but i think it's also about how people don't think for themselves, like in the line "i can see a soldier marching off to war/ does he know what he is fighting for?"
