Supplanter: I don't really think that it is about dying in place of someone else (a lot of ppl think of jesus when they see the word martyr). I think it's just about having someone at your side while you die. You want them to stay and to be faithfull, which explains the first 2 lines you quoted. For the last one, when he walks down towards his destiny in pain, he hears the mourning of his bloved ones from earth, and he's kinda like, hey, im the one dying here.
Thats my vision on the whole thing. Damn this song is so beautiful, so pretty yet so sad, and you dont even have to hear the lyrics to feel that sphere. Probably one of the greatest songs of alltime. Just so pure. |

I think this song is about life passing you by and you can't do anything to stop or control it. You're just feeling useless and worthless in your little world. Because you can't give your life any meaning youre living it in an empty and hollow way. Days, months and years go by without anything happening and you just get tired of that. You might as well be dead, cause you have no influence (death may come). If you live like this long enough, its beginning to ruin you mentally. I know exactly what Jon is singing about here, I wrote a similar song, perhaps even before this one came out. It describes a lot of people today, who are trapped in their own lives. Its very deep, and it makes me both depressed and reassured that im not the only one even though I already knew. Big up to Korn for this song. One of the highlights of this year.

Damn its empty here, weird though, cause this is an amazing song. This is a total other thing then nu-metal or any kind of metal. I call it progressive metal. I just adored this song so I bought arc'tan'gant and it rocks. I think its just that no-one has ever heard of this band, cause if they did they would explore en adore, especially fans of tool, apc, deftones and korn. |

I myself think that this song is about the healing process maynard's been through since his unpleasant childhood (Tool; Prison Sex, Pushit). The song itself is just so deep and amazing, as well as Rose and Orestes. That's the beauty of A Perfect Circle, the emotions they put into music. I mean, Maynard has really grown musically, cause he never showed these kinds of emotions in Tool, and he probably never will cause Tool is a whole other type of band. I love them both though. |
