Savage Garden – Universe Lyrics 23 years ago
I think this song has a little more to it then just sex. I think that it has to deal with the emotions of two people who are in love when they make love for the first time. Obviously, he is trying to reassure this girl that he knows she is nervous, but she should just be herself, and that she has nothing to worry about because he loves her. He tells her to just lose track of time (“put time in a capsule”), and to get lost in the moment.

Savage Garden – Truly Madly Deeply Lyrics 23 years ago
I love this song. To me, this is what true love is. My favourite line is "I'll make a wish send it to heaven then make you want to cry...The tears of joy for all the pleasure in the certainty"...I love this line, because I think that you know when you are in true love when you just cry out of happiness.

David Bowie – As the World Falls Down Lyrics 23 years ago
This song is so beautiful. I think that in this song, Jareth is trying to show Sarah that deep within her there is a love that she longs to share. He then encourages her to choose her path in life, and promises her that his love will always be waiting for her. He encourages her to follow her dreams, and to surrender to her heart.

Darren Hayes – Insatiable Lyrics 23 years ago
I think this song is so incredible. Darren does an amazing job singing it, and his falsetto is just beautiful. Even more beautiful, is the idea of the song – having an unquenchable desire for someone, and being so in love with someone that just being with them makes you a better person. This song is truly an amazing piece of artwork, that Darren should be so proud of.

David Usher – Jesus Was My Girl Lyrics 23 years ago
I can't believe I'm the first person to add a comment here! Anyway, I've already discussed this song a couple of times on the David Usher Messageboard, and here's what I thought the song was about.

“So he dies and I’m the joke”
I think that’s referring to the death of the Lord Jesus (sorry to everyone who doesn’t believe in Jesus). Anyway, when Jesus died on the cross many years ago, many people believed that he deserved to die, and that he had sinned. But in all reality, he died free from sin. I think that David is trying to say that even though Jesus was put to death so many years ago, and had to die, he lived a life full of meaning, and purpose, and goodness...while everyone else who didn’t have to die are really the jokes because they live their lives in sin...

I think the next few lines are about how we have sinned – with our obsessions with sex…we are “supped up cock teases”.

I think that the obsession with sex is also brought out in the line “fuckings over but I can’t stop cumming” - I think that line's saying that even when people are not having sex, their minds are still on it all of the time...we are obsessed with sex.

Then there’s the line “not as pretty as I thought I’d be”
I think that David is trying to say that his life isn’t as fulfilling and purposeful as he would have liked...it’s just about sex.

Anyway, I think the most important line in the song is “still born dead or never born at all”.

I think that being “born dead” is referring to the fact that we are born with no real purpose in life, and with no real aspirations. And then he questions - would you rather live a shallow life, or just never be born at all? He basically states that they are the same thing.

Therefore my final impression is that the song is about someone who realizes that the world is obsessed and centered around sex, and therefore realizes that it is impossible to live a fulfilled and meaningful life. So they contemplate whether a life lived in sin, and a life lived without purpose is a life worth living.

That is my opinion, but remember...to each his own...

David Usher – Black Black Heart Lyrics 23 years ago
I found this song to be very rich in meaning. I think it is about someone who watches the world become more and more obsessed with earthly values such as sex and diamonds. They begin to realize that the world is falling apart under the effect of these shallow obsessions. And they come to realize that they must surrender to our reality…they realize that society is helpless and that we are doomed…“I unfurl my flag my nation helpless”. They discover that society is “something ugly” that we are “rotting to the core”, and they realize that they themselves are “godless”, as they too have fallen under the effects of society. It makes you wonder whether or not there is any true universal morality, and makes you question whether or not true art and true freedom can exist in the society that we have created, and the society that we insist on upholding.
