Amen to that, NFGPunkPrincess. I was in the summer after senior year when I first heard this song, and the lyrics totally struck me. Can't say I like the song too much, especially the "I am here" part. But good lyrics, good lyrics |

Damn does this song rock! Gotta hand it to the Ohio Players for and awesome tune, and to Soundgarden for taking it to another level. I gotta ask like I've asked before, though....is that really Chris singing the whole thing? How can he switch from the heavy grungy voice to the falsetto metal voice so quickly??? |

Pretty straightforward, lyrics, no? Your lie has been discovered, and there's nothing you can do to fix the damage. I seriously have to ask, is that really Chris singing the verses? How does he manage to have so many different tones to his singing voice? It boggles my mind. |

I love that second verse. The whole song has this surreal quality that makes me think it's about being confused and you just need to stop everything ("Switch opens") to figure it out. |

Sounds like it's about drugs, frankly. I don't like to jump to that conclusion very often, but it seems pretty clear. Perhaps it's about a more controlled drugging, maybe at a mental institution? And does anyone know if anything, what he says before "hold the potion up?" |

Hmm, I'm thinking it's about a kid who goes off to fight a war. Sticks and fire...possibly dynamite, more likely guns/cannons. Reptiles could be a reference to tanks and other armored vehicles. |

The story I heard on this song was that it was a note left on the Hiro's door by his girlfriend at the time, and it happened to fit nicely with the tune. There's probably some detail I'm leaving out that makes the story more believable, but that's what I remember. |

I think this is my favorite song lyricly by Chris. I love the rhymes and the entire topic of the song. I also love the way he screams "Gonna kill your mother" so that someone who listens to it for the first time might think it is about something darker than it is. |

I heard this song on "A-Sides" and fell in love with it. When I purchased "Screaming Life/Fopp," I noticed something interesting. In the song "Hand of God" is an introduction speaking by some preacher, and his sermon ends with "it is a vain parade....it has no meaning." Probably was the inspiration for that line in "Flower." |

I think it's worth noting that the lyrics are not by Kurt, but actually this is a cover of a Devo song. I mean, yeah, Kurt was a frickin brilliant songwriter, but this song is more an example of his good taste than his brilliant songwriting. |

I read somewhere that this is about a bird that flew into Chris's window late at night, and Chris killed it to put it out of its misery. |
