This song kind of reminds me of starting college or entering some other new stage in your life, ie graduating college, starting a new carreer, etc. Everyone else is passing this person by and they already know which way they want to go but this person doesnt but at least he realizes he needs to figure it out soon. Thise person also has some distractions like the "black tie bomb shell out of bombay" but by the end he has got on his way and is ready o reach where hes going and deliver all he can to the world. Tell me what you think. |

I think the girl in this song is not actually a girl but a thing or expierience that made him question his life and think he needed to change where it was going. I think the images in this song are used to decribe the journey this person had to go on to rediscover his life and himself. At first he beleives the girl and goes to meet the "man" like she says and he tries to tell him life is simpler than he thinks but this isnt good enough for the guy and he keeps looking. It's also interesting how the man has been in the same place for so long, maybe his life isnt going anywhere but hes content with it. Then the guy discovers something in the "bottle" and when he read it to the man it was an awakening to both of them. They realized there is no right direction but as long as your true to yourself and relax a little then you will have a good life. Then the guy got rid of the bottle because theres no point in looking for answers and living your life trying to figure out what you want to do with it. These are just my thoughts, i still dont understand a lot of it but tell me what you think. |

I'm pretty sure the "I want bones like iron/blood like mercury/so i can tell you when i'm rising/when i'm sinking in" line is saying he wants to be able to say what hes feeling. He wants to stand up for himself when he gets mad or heated, hense mercury, like they put in thermometers, and be strong enough to admit when hes upset about something, and be able to talk about it, because sinking kind of gives me a depressed image. Tell me what you think or what the rest of the song could mean based on that. |

I agree with veggiesattva 100%!!! It's about someone who hasnt quite gotten over their ex yet and hasnt been able to get their life back on track because theyre still distracted and hurt by them but have to try and act cool so they don't scare the other person or maybe because it just seems like the other person doesnt care. This person obviously hasnt gotten to say everything they may have wanted to and is still confused about the breakup and is unclear about why things ended. I think they want the other persons attention back but realize the relationship isnt worth falling back into and if it came down to it they wouldnt want the other person back. Their ex obviously didnt/ doesnt care about them much and this person doesnt want to fall back into a relationship where they're taken for granted. The other thing that I think is interesting about this song is it seems as if the person in the song mostly just wants their ex to understand themselves because they dont always say what the want or what they mean, they kind of have a fake front that the person in the song can see, but not see past. However, untill the person in this song gets some closer they cant move on with their life. Well, thats all i can think of- tell me what you think. |
