interesting, MrBigThought...wierd, but interesting You know, I kinda resent the "pretty girl" comments, really. I mean, face reality: life is easier if you are cute. Period. But honestly, the most attractive people I have ever met have had amazing personalities that forced people to like them, and who are really and truly NICE to others! Unlike some (not all) of those hotties that you can just feel the insecurity seeping out of them! Told you, it's a curse. But enough of that, I do not think the song has anything to do with aesthetic beauty. Well, maybe a little, but honestly every girl is beautiful. This song is about letting go. The hardest thing for any human being to do is honestly LET GO. Lots of people have been in a relationship they could call an obsession, or close. And it all goes back to childhood, ladies, why we fall for the jerk-ass-punks that treat us like yesterday's garbage. (and vice-versa, guys) But this song sheds a light on one of life's great lessons: PAIN. Yep, it sucks being cheated on, lied to, beaten up, smacked around and then having to somehow pick up the pieces. This song is life, and let it be a comfort to you (if you have been shit on) that you are not alone and many of us have felt GREAT PAIN and sorrow due to bad relationship decesions. But does it not make you a better person?! Seriously, the crappier the relationship, the more you are able to appreciate your next! As long as you DO NOT let the jerk get to you. And usually he does, for awhile. But I promise: time heals all wounds. Just time. And you don't need to go off jumping into bed with some other jerk to ease the pain or stir up jealousy, because any decent relationship worth fighting for is not based on either. Ok, there it is. A little deeper than I wanted to go, but I am in a good mood today and wanted to spread some hope to all. |

ok, enough! Jesus, have you guys never been in love? This song (CD) is like crying, but what the hell is wrong with that? That is what music is for! This song actually got huge at the perfect time for me, for, alas, I have been in his shoes. He is perfectly describing the first 24 hours (the worst) after a bad break-up and it is real. By the way, it is very painful knowing someone you love (hell, even LIKE) is "making out" with somebody else...are people so damn empty inside that they have to run straight into the arms of strangers to cope? |

yep, I agree with the above. I am REALLY not feeling the suicide thing, but a lot seem to. I think this is really a simple song, and one we all can relate to. I think he is in a relationship with this girl who may be getting tired of them and is pushing him away. I do it all the time. And you feel bad and make some lame excuse like a bad day. You just don't want to let anyone in. Now, I have not seen the video to this one, but the angel may be a "distant" analogy. |

I think this song is about being in a relationship you should not be in, for whatever reason. Crossing lines and giving up parts of yourself that you should never for anyone. I think it is actually meant to come from two different people. One is the guy begging the girl back, and asking for mercy for "crossing lines he should not have crossed" and using the excuse that "he was lost" And then the girl hears family, friends, etc, attempting to open her eyes to the reality that this guy is not good for her. "How long must she wait?" "How long must she pay?" ---or--- maybe it is one person who has hurt others in the past and now cannot find a real relationship because he created such negative Karma for his romantic future. Interesting. I think "lines that I couldn't change" are circumstances beyond his/her control, not necessarily something he did. Then he/she crossed them, and should not have. | I first heard this song at a dance convention and this one chick performed this beautiful solo to this! Anyway, this song means so many things for so many people, and the simplicity of it makes it even more complex. "With or without you," I think, is the key to the song. See, I was the same way. I totally changed myself for ONE stupid guy, and after he broke my heart, this song was the key to finding ME again! You can get so lost in someone else's vision of you that is leads to total consumption of your vision for yourself. It's a hard lesson to learn, and some do not have to, but there are still a lot of people WAY TOO dependant on someone else. Pretty Girl = TRUTH! Great song! When I first heard it, it was like listening in on my last relationship...it's been a year, and if anyone is actually reading this, all I can say is that time heals all wounds. If you REALLY understand this song you have taken some knocks, so just hang in there. And ladies, this song brings a whole lot of reality to how we pick 'em. For some reason evil men = super sexy...
