A lot of people are misunderstanding Anti-Flag, and its message, and the inverted flag image. Anti-Flag is not anti-american, or all "fuck america" and whatnot. They are more patriotic then any of your standard "slap a flag decal on our high energy consumption SUV, or better yet, the american flag on a japenese import" individual. They see a flaw, and they try to make it known. They care about this country a lot. And as for the person who said, "why don't we move?" Why is it such a crime to want more? Anti-Flag would be the first to admit that the US is the best place in the world to live. But is it wrong to ask for more? or should we just sit down and accept what we have as the best possible? NO! Just learn more about what the band stands for (Peace, love, unity) before you start ripping on their ideals. As for the "punk is dead" comment. How was it ever alive then? Punk has always been about alternative views. The Dead kennedys, The Clash, Sex Pistols, Ramones, Misfits. Those were the first wave punk bands. Punk now just continues. The definition of punk music? There really is no definition. But for the most, it's about fast power chords and energy, and the midset that goes with it. All these newer punk bands have it. What makes them not punk? |
