"Davey things he's dying" this is half true. any talk about Davey's mortality, well it is explained by the album cover itself. "rabits are roadkill" and for those who have not been following AFI mythology in the past... according to the Chinese Zodiac - Davey would be a Rabbit. Out of all the Zodiac animals, the Rabbits are the end of the line. Rabits do not reincarnate., thus Davey's current life is his last. for more info..look into the whole 336/337 Sing the Sorrow stuff |

to... return to my post so very long ago.. like i said, according to Davey, his exact words "it's about hugs." As we all know, Davey is a very private person, he tends to keep himself, and his private life to himself. This song, is about how people would come up to him after shows, and give him big hugs because they liked and adored him and his band. he's simply stating that, all of his fans, they don't know him as a person, they simply know him as Davey Havok, the singer of AFI, and so going up and hugging him and such... it makes him uncomfortable Being the private person that he is, it would bother him that people he did not really know, and people who seemed to feel they knew him, would dare come up and give him a hug, a rather personal gesture that calls for invading personal space. it's not him trying to bash his fans, but simply express something he was feeling. this is why, in the few occasions i've seen davey, i've simply said 'hi' and left him to what he was doing. i wish i could find the link with this interview in it... but while i posted this back in like 2002 originally, the interview was probably from anywhere between 1996-2000 |

| straight from Davey's mouth... "its about hugs" this is the only song that he really ever talked about the meanings too, in one of their many interviews | |

One of the things people don't realize about Davey..is that most of his songs are about 2 things at once. I always felt that this song would be about his mother. The line.. "I can't help my laughter as she cries"...its about how His mom probably doesn't agree with what he's done with his life... she isn't happy with him being a singer in a band.. and while he's enjoying it, she's unhappy about it. "I can feel the violence of the lines" and assorted other lines, i think are references to arguements they have. "lets admire the pattern forming" perhaps they argue a lot..and he's not very happy about it. But thats what I think |
