| The Used – Cut Up Angels Lyrics
|
Wow...just found out songmeanings was back up :P. Took me like 10 minutes to figure out my password, hehe. Anyway, I DEFINITELY think this song is about sex. The 'pedals' refference...dunno if its already been mentioned, but if you think of "deflowering" a girl, the pedals thing makes more sense.
And well, he talks about how pedals are pure, yet when he thinks of 'her' pedals and the abuse they've been through...well, you kinda get the idea :). Also "lieing to the angels saying you stabbed me to death" ....well, stabbed her to death w/ what? :P
Alright, so this song is a bit graphic. That's just The Used for ya. They still kick ass.
Hello again SongMeanings, good to see the site back up (even though it's probably been up for awhile)

I simply love this song...it's such a depressing but beautiful piece...the best part of the song, in my opinion, is when the tempo of the song slows down and the "I know what died that night" verse begins |

We've all pushed love away at some point...I care deeply for a girl who I know shares the same feelings for me...but still, we keep those feelings hidden..."pushing love away", if you will...someday those feelings will eventually arise, but right now I guess we're just comfortable where we're at as friends...

What I personally get from this song is that drinking away your problems, this particular problem dealing with a girl, is not going to solve anything. Still, sometimes it's the only way to ease the pain...I definately can relate. |

This song has always had meaning to me...even more so as of today...I just found out my prom date, a girl I've felt a deep connection with for the past 2 years, can't go to prom with me...so now I have to settle for the "Homecoming Queen"...a girl I have no real connection with, and am just physically attracted to...my senior year was leading up to prom(which would either make or break my high school experience, in my eyes at least), but now I have to settle for second best...I know I probably sound like a whiny baby right now, but you guys just don't understand...anyway, greatest song ever written...

| Dashboard Confessional – Tonight I'll Take What I Can Get Lyrics

This song is about getting drunk at a bar and leaving with the first girl who is willing to give you the time of day...WTF???
Ok, at the risk of sounding like everyone else, I'm gonna have to agree and say that I'm not totally pleased with the direction Chris has taken as of late. I myself have been a fan since "The Swiss Army Romance", and when I first discovered DC it was at a time in my life that they were just what I needed. I felt privledged to be one of the few at my school to know about the band, and I was willing to share my discovery with a few I believed were mature enough to respect Chris and his work. Soon after, their stint with MTV began. I still supported the band, but it was like having your best friend suddenly stray off to a new crowd...they'll still always be your friend, but you don't feel the same "connection" with them that you used to. Anyway, I bought the "Unplugged" album after seeing them on MTV2 (although I despise MTV, I thought the performance was a masterpiece...exactly how Chris intended his music to be shared...), but when I finally saw them live, Chris just didn't have that same spark to him that he used to. The years he spent touring the independent circuit seemed to be erased from the experience in just a few months of being in the mainstream. Chris didn't have the same emotion he once had...almost as if he had lost his way. What finally put me over the top was when I heard this song...I first heard the recorded version, and really had no comment about it, but when I heard it live I really analyzed the lyrics...what happend to waiting for the right girl??? All his previous songs seemed to have the message that being with the right girl was more important than any one night stand could ever be (not to mention that I have always prided Chris for being the sort of guy who I thought would never do such a thing). It's almost as if his newfound fame has influenced him to write in this manner because getting wasted and sleeping around is the "cool thing to do".
Whatever...I won't lie and say I'm not going to buy the next album because I want to see if he stays true to his word and doesnt take his new music in this direction...for the sake of his fans, let's hope he keeps his word... |

This song is a statement which is being made to the media, the critics, and yes, the FANS. They've declared in the past that even the independent music scene is a "business", and money IS a factor. They took a lot of heat from fans, and this song is their way of saying "screw you and what you think, we'll do whatever the hell we want". |

| Sugarcult – Hate Every Beautiful Day Lyrics

Am I the only one that finds the way he says "Cause I hate every beautiful day" in the first verse sort of haunting? The guitar riffs that back the line up only add to that. It's a great song to relate to when one of your days just isnt going well, or when you're in a time of your life that's full of unwanted change. I myself am not always a fan of beautiful days...and sometimes I wish it would just rain to fit my mood |

This song is so true to me...the first time I heard it, I was able to relate it to someone I knew. It reminds me of a girl I know...such a charming beautiful exterior...her parents are very well off financially, she's popular at school, an active member in sports and school activities, but deep down inside there's so much conflict and so many problems that I know of going on in her personal life...and no one knows... |

Great song. It's straight from the heart, and Chris Carraba is a GOD when it comes to writing lyrics. I think everyone has been through this phase at least once in their life, being left by someone and dealing with the pain that comes with that loss. "I hope you're as happy as you're pretending" |

Ahhh Blink 182..."Dammit"...the first song to ever catch my attention and open my eyes to punk music(and yes, I'm calling this punk). I remember listening to the lyrics of this song when I had been cheated on by an ex-g/f. They matched my feelings about her so perfectly. From that point on I supported Blink, and I'm not afraid to admit I still do, although I'm beginning to think the whole adolescent/immaturity attitude they have is growing old with their age. At some point we all have to grow up...still, this is THE first Blink/punk song I had ever heard, so I owe the direction my life took to this single song |

I agree with Steph. NFG is and will always be a great band, hell you can tell just by this song. But funny how you can tell the true fans from the new ones...when I seen them at warped tour, they played their single off of sticks and stones, "My Friends Over You", and everyone was singing along, but as soon as they got into their older stuff from Nothing Gold Can Stay, it got quiet except for a handful of people singing. I just laughed to myself :-) |

| Mest – Yesterday Lyrics

This is my favorite Mest song. It's about a guy and a girl who are in love and rarely get to see each other because he's on the road often, yet they still trust each other and know they are commited. What I personally get from the song (this has nothing to do with the actual meaning of it) is that you should have no regrets about the past, and you should look back and remember the good times and take the bad and learn from it. |

What guy hasn't thought about writing a poem or a song for a special girl in his life? Well ok there might be some that haven't, but the sensitive type, such as myself, have. The song is basically about an unappreciative girlfriend and her love-sick boyfriend who can't do anything to please her |

| Saves the Day – This Is Not An Exit Lyrics

I'm pretty new to STD music, I'll admit that. Still, I have to say their songs have to be some of the best, most thought-out lyrics I've ever heard. No exception here either. Like many others, I have to agree that the first half of the song is about a relationship, and finally giving up with it and accepting the fact that it's over. The second part of the song, in the beginning, is about the depression that comes with the break up. Then as the second verse continues, it talks about acceptance of what happend, and moving on with your life with no regrets. Then around the end of the second verse, it talks about living your life to the fullest, and being happy with the people you've grown to know and love, and how you've touched their lives. It is truly a life-to-death song |

This goes in the category of one of my favorite songs of all time. I remember skipping over the track on the ep, but then stumbling upon it a week later. I was in disbelief when I listened to the lyrics, they reminded me of better days I had with a certain girl, and of a night where we just walked and talked about life and had a deep conversation. ahhh...better days :-( . I've been a serious DC fan since that day...as for the lyrics, they're pretty self explanatory I suppose. |
