this is one of the most truly amazing songs in the world. the orchestration is beyond brilliant. if for only the reason of its 150 second instrumental intro--pause--PAY ATTENTION in the most ragged, visceral plea. then, blah, blah, brilliant, brilliant. then, as it crescendos [for the second time, i suppose) we hear the beautiful, whimsically idyllyically adolescent ode to all that can be.
then the line "life means hearing my ears ring one more day" which is brilliant beyond brilliant. then i think about how amazing every aspect of this song is.. and go, aw, gee that sure was real good. then: boom. whoa! theres this sketch tack-on that makes everything make sense and cleanses the world off all that is evil and bad in the world.
its about the human condition.

yo yo. saw them live in chicago. before they played this song, they pointed to a guy in the audience who waved, etc and was introuced as "my friend peter", by skiba. the whole song has amazingly clever [if nothing else] lyrics. |

yo, yo, got this live bootlegged sorta romp thru this song that makes its meaning abundantly clear: pot. he says "smoking for eighteen months". the breathing and memory images are also clear, i think. |
