Hmm...well no one else sees this song the way I do, but that's fine. Here's my interpretation: I take the "house" as someone's mind, and the key being the ability to get inside their head. "I am the key to the lock in your house/that keeps your toys in the basement." The toys being the things that this person who is inside the mind is manipulating to control the person. "and if you get too far inside/you'll only see my reflection"; he's saying, no matter what you're just a reflection of me, this is the best for you. I think the next parts talk about "turning off the light" or killing the person, by slamming their head or... "I am the pick in the ice/do not cry out or hit the alarm/we're friends till we die" is about an ice pick lobotomy, a procedure that was used in mental institutions to destroy the frontal lobe of a a person's brain. They would insert steel needles in through the corners of the eyes at an angle to the brain to turn you into a vegetable. "open up your skull" goes along with the "destroyed brain" theory. "it's always better on the outside"; looking at your face is easier once i've destroyed you. "fifteen blows to your mind"... no matter what, i'll always be there, inside your head, climbing up the walls. hmm, I don't know. |

The beauty of music is that it can be interpreted the way you want it to be. So just get over yourselves. If it's about jacking off to you, it is. Good. Now go jack off. Anyway, MY interpretation of the song is that it's about a guy who had a really great relationship with a really talented girl, and he helped her to get famous, and he was dropped. I feel like the "eyes on my wall/your teeth are over there" are the posters of her that he's hung on the wall. "i'm still no one/and you're my star..." I think refers to how in the relationship he used to support her in her pursuit for fame, and used to joke about being no one when she hit it big, but now he is no one. She left him behind. He's restless, he can't get her out of his head, blah blah, she's beautiful, maybe he's jacking off, but maybe he's just playing mindgames with himself, thinking she'll come back to him, even though the other, famous, gorgeous men are "far, far better". When they were together, he did everything for her "who bought you cigarettes"-and actually helped her hit it big-"who bribed the company to come and see you"-this is my favorite part-"honey..." She's got these gorgeous men and bimbo women to hang out with, and to do her bidding, but they're not her friends. They're paid to kiss her feet. They don't know anything about her, and she shouldn't care about them or being famous anymore. She's got everything she wants but she'll never need them if she would just come back to him-he's bled and he will bleed for her if she'll just return. I love this song. |

what to say, what to say. certainly, nothing that hasnt been said before on this hellish comment orgy of stupid people talking about stupid things such as 'her songs are so deep and great!' and 'shes a poser!' why does it matter to you people what kind of image she portrays? what does it matter if she sings pop or is a hypocrite? personally i havent got an opinion on her because if i did, then id sound just like the rest of you idiots. why should you care? really? so you want her to die. oh thats nice. im happy for you. so it reminds you of your ex boyfriend. lovely, really. whoever cares needs a life. was 500+ comments necessary to get the messages "she sucks" and "she rocks" across? you people make me SO sick. |

acually ive always looked at this song a little differently. to me, its more about a man who loves a girl who is clinically depressed and little things bother her to the point where she cant handle anything (spilt her coffee broke her shoelace/smeared the lipstick on her face). the man is always expecting something from her, love, compassion, even a decent conversation, but she never gives it to him (slammed the door and said im sorry I, i had a bad day again)..(left a note...)..and he is always dissapointed (she puts me up and puts me on..and had a bad day again). she is unable to cope with her life and denies having a problem (and she swears theres nothing wrong/i hear her playin that same old song). basically the guy gets nothing but still loves her for her, even if she is screwed up. okay thats just me. |
