| I think the lyrics talk about a situation where the woman (the singer) being in love with a man. The man, in the meantime, sees the woman as a close friend. Meanwhile, he goes out seeing various other women, finding that their relationships don't work out, and that the other women he sees don't really make him happy. Instead, he comes to the woman (the singer) to talk about his feelings, about how all the other women he sees don't really do it for him. | I think this song represents what's so great about 2Pac; other rappers are out rapping about how tough they are, about how cool they are, while 2Pac doesn't have a problem in being honest and showing his vulnerabilities. There are a lot of songs that give praise to mothers, but I think is one of the nicest, simply because it's so honest. It doesn't use any euphimisms or similies, it just brings up all the things that our moms have done for us, that we can all relate to. | |

I think that this song is to send a warning out to his fans. Of course we all know that Eminem's next best talent is stirring up controversy. If you listen to the songs on The Marshall Mathers LP, there are many reoccurrences of a message that says to his fans that a lot of the things he says should not be taken seriously, and that he doesn't really mean what he means. I think this song is that same warning, except he's trying to use an example of what would happen if you take him too seriously. Stan is writing to Eminem about how he takes everything that Eminem says seriously, and Eminem writes back saying that Stan doesn't really understand him and that Stan should seek some help. Finally, we know what happened to Stan. I think the point of the song was to send out a message to his fans to not take everything he says seriously. |

According to Sarah McLachlan, this song is about those who have died from drugs. Drugs aren't mentioned explicitly in the lyrics; it's only mentioned once: I need some distraction oh beautiful release memory seeps from my veins let me be empty and weightless and maybe I'll find some peace tonight I think she's talking about someone who has had a rough day and is looking for something to relieve stress, and turns towards drugs. I like this song a lot; I think it points out a problem that a lot of us face in society; that feeling of wanting to fit in, to want to accomplish something in life, to want to be a somebody. However, after trying again and again and failing, we give up hope, we try to cover up our mistakes with lies so as to not let other people see our failures: So tired of the straight line and everywhere you turn there's vultures and thieves at your back and the storm keeps on twisting you keep on building the lie that you make up for all that you lack Finally the person tries to escape it all by committing suicide using drugs, and eventually finds peace in heaven. |
