| Creed – What's This Life For Lyrics

Everyone who said that Tremonti & Stapp wrote this song about a friend who killed himself is absolutely correct. I read in an interview with Tremonti that this actually happened over spring break. It's such a powerful description of suicide. The "...the answer lies in you" part is especially true. Anyone seroiusly contemplating suicide cannot be convinced by someone else that life is worth living, they have to find it in themselves. On a seperate note, I think the "Don't say a last prayer..." part refers to a somewhat obscure Catholic teaching that Dispair (i.e. suicide) is the ONLY unforgivable sin, so any prayer you say would be, in effect, useless. |

I know it was written well beforehand, but this song describes NJ hardcore kids perfectly. They beat the crap out of anyone who doesn't have the "label". As for the original intent, yeah, life sucks in a lot of places. I was fortunate enough to move out of one. Op Ivy was such a great band. It's a shame Rancid can't be even half the band Op Ivy was |

| Sublime – Date Rape Lyrics

Rape is one of the most chicken-shit things a guy can do. I'm glad that Brad had the balls to speak out against it, and I'm impressed that he was able to make such a depressing topic and inject humor. "I can't take pity on men of his kind/Even though he now takes it in the behind". |

Hey PTW, your exactly why hardcore kids are thought of as fuckers by everyone else. You really need to broaden your horizons. Poison The Well happens to be one of my favorite bands. So is Sublime. It's not impossible. |

First off, killabean, if you have to resort to this to get chicks I seriously hope your dick can reach your ass because the only person you'll ever fuck is yourself. On a better note, this is a truly incredible song. The "I remember the day the sun went out..." part has to be one of my favorites. I have to agree with everyone who has said this song is like a suicide note; even the title (Slice Paper Wrists) is an allusion to suicide. |

Anyone who likes the cover should check out Diamond Head. They were one of the Metallica's biggest influences in their earlier days. I got a most of the better songs on KaZaA and a very fast connection. |

If anyone likes this cover, they will be absolutely blown away by the original. Metallica's great at what they do (when they're not sueing everyone), but they make a terrible punk band. *tip to all: see the misfits live, they're fucking awesome* |

OK children, let's not turn this into a complete parent-bashing session. While it's perfectly clear that he's angry with his parents, he also knows they had good intentions. "I'm in hell without you/ Cannot cope without you two/ Shocked at the world that I see/ Innocent victim please rescue me" He's saying that even though he hated life with his parents, he hates the outside world even more. By the way, fuckin awesome end to an incredible album. |

| Taproot – I Lyrics

I think the mark of a great lyricist is that his/her songs can take on a different meaning to everyone who hears them. That is, a great song should be able to relate in some way shape or form to almost everyone. This song, along with Sober by Tool (my personal fave), really seems to do that. |

I'm probably wrong, but i got the idea that5 this song was about being haunted by the past. "There's a shadow just behind me, Shrouding every breath I take, Making every promise empty, pointing every finger at me" It seems to me that whatever happened in his past (drugs/relationship/alcohol etc.) makes people distrust him and opint to him when anything goes wrong. The "Why can't we not be sober?/ I just want to start this over" part means that while he wants to continue whatever he was doing he wishes he had never started in the first place. The "I am just a worthless liar/I am..." is a warning to anyone who might not yet know him. He knows deep down that others mistrust of him is well deserved. The Jesus/Mother Mary part is about how when he cried out to God/society for help all they gave him was a list of the bad things he had done. This is just what the song means to me. It's probably totally off base but this is just my 2cents. |

| Pantera – This Love Lyrics

This song almost perfectly describes the way I feel about a past relationship. It seems to me that the beginning of the relationship was good, but it really soured. They grew apart, but still had feelings for each other so it was strung out much longer than it should have been. By the end He both loved and hated her. |
