this song reminds me of that perfect moment you have with someone sometimes... just the fact that you're there with them feels so right and whatever happens in the future it doesn't matter... you will always have that one moment |

For everyone who thinks just because the middle is the 1st jew song they knew means they don't like their older music too, i'll tell you a/b me. I heard this song for the 1st time sometime around may or april on mtv2. I had never even heard of jew before and i thought it was really good. A couple days later I bought bleed american and really liked it. I also saw that they had clarity and static prevails. I now have all 3 cd's and honestly i like static prevails and clarity better. I'm glad that they became more popular because otherwise I still would have never known about their music at all. And I think now you would maybe agree that i have as much a right to be a fan of jew as anyone else |

this is the kind of song that I could just put on repeat and listen to forever. the way chris sings it makes it sound very desperate and having it acoustic really just makes it perfect. it's great that such a short song can have so much feeling. |

This is the best song by std. I can totaly relate. Once I heard it, I couldn't stop listening to it. It actualy made me cry because it was so true for me. It made me realize how pathetic I was being liking someone that didn't like me and always wishing he was there. |

yeah i saw them live a few weeks ago and you couldn't really hear him sing.:-( I felt bad for them b/c no one really did anything when they played. Part of it was prolly b/c not many people knew their songs. I think they were better than blink though. waaay better. |

i love this song! Definately one of their best. It's just a really beautiful song. There's nothing I could say about it to really do it justice. If anyone hasn't heard it yet, they really should. Isn't there another part at the end of the song like "under cushions hide the change"? |

'Regret. Do try it once but then you know.' That's one of my favorite lyrics ever. It's like you love someone that doesn't love you back, but you still feel like you have to tell them. You'll regret it whether you tell them or not, so you figure you might as well go for it. "Take in restraint like a breath, my lungs are so numb from holding back." It's like you can't hold in your feelings any longer. I don't quite get the simple discourse part tho. Could someone explain that to me. |

This song rocks! It's about leaving something behind and realizing that you can't go back and relive all your memories. You have to let go in order to move on. I can't think of a good way to describe how it makes me feel. |

I know this song is about a girlfriend cheating on you and not telling you about it, but I relate it to my so called best friend. She went behind my back and tried to go out with the guy i was being set up with. I found out about it from a friend. I didn't really like him that much, and I wouldn't have really cared except that she did it behind my back. She didn't tell me untill she was already going out w/ him. She said that she was sorry, but it was too late in my mind. I eventualy forgave her, but i'll never think of her the same way again. This song really shows how it feels to be betrayed by someone you love and trust. "I'm waiting for blood to flow to my fingers, I'll be all right when my hands get warm." It's like when you first hear it, you're so shocked you don't even know what to do. You feel like you never want to talk to them again, and you're not intrested in hearing their excuses or apologies, you just hate them. |

I agree w/ not blond. It's about how they're not together and they're pretending that they're ok with it. I think the other person is over him, but he still loves her. Whenever they see each other, they use the 'satndard lines.' They use them instead of having a real conversation. It really describes how awkward those moments are. I think the part about the liquid diet is referring to alcohol. Like he uses it to forget his pain, but he still can't forget the feeling of her kiss. It's a beautiful song, and I think everyone can relate to it, like many of his songs. |

I think that the first verse is about trying to find a way to make a relationship work, but nothing seems to fit together. He's saying that he'll be fine on his own, and he will...eventualy.
He never told her not to go, but he wrote a note in a book that she was reading and never finished. The book symbolizes their relationship. He hopes that one day she'll go back to reading the book. If so, she'll see the note and maybe answer his question. In other words, she'll want to give them another chance. It seems that she always meant to come back, just like she meant to finish the book some other time. He's using the note as a way for her to "find her way back."
Then he wonders what happens if she never gets around to comming back. What if their story is too dull finish? Will he get the girl then?
You get the feeling that she doesn't care as much about him as he does about her. She's gone and his only hope is the note. He never got a chance to say goodbye to her. And her really regrets that and the fact that he never told her not to go in the first place.
The part about the pattern repeating is his life going on without her. It doesn't really have a meaning, just repeated motions.
It's a really sad song. About regret and loss. IT does have some hope though. Maybe one day, she might find that book and read the note and want to go back to him. She probably won't, but he can still hope. I hope that makes sense.

All the things above sound like things the song can mean. Everyone kind of has their own interpretation which i think is cool. I'm not saying I'm right, but here's what this song means to me. Whatever it really means, it's still a great song. One of Dash's best.
I think it's about him loving this girl, but she lead him on just to see if she could. He had one perfect day where he believed she loved him, but it turned out to be a lie. He was all excited b/c he thought he would finaly get a chance, but it was over before it ever started. He realizes that the whole thing was just a waste of time. I think he's being sarcastic when he says "Does it comfort you to know you fought the good fight?" Because she did something really low. She's bragging about the whole thing to everyone, but it's stupid to brag b/c she didn't really gain anything.
I get that meaning b/c something like that happend to me and this song describes perfectly how I felt at the time. |

And I'm throwing away the letters that I am writing you 'cause they would never do, I would never do.
Those are the best lyrics. All too true. It's about being in love w/ someone but they make you feel like dirt. You know you should just get over them, but you can't. Whatever you do, you'll never be good enough for them, but you can't help writing the letters anyway. You get frustrated trying to find a way that just doesn't exist. No matter what you said to them, they still wouldn't love you. :-( Pretty much describes my life right now. Dashboard is amazing! He just has a way of finding words for feelings that everyone can relate to. |

I think this song is about a relationship that never really gets anywhere. It was just a waste of time, but you can never get the time back. It also seems like it might have worked out, but it ended over something stupid. You know that you should try again, but you let hate and pride win. Unfortunately, this happens too often. |

This song just came true for me. That's really weird. Anyway, there was something very painful that I was trying to ignore. I just kept hoping it wasn't true. But something happened today that forced me to face reality. The haze cleared from my eyes on a sunday, and now I have to live with the fact that what I wish for won't come true. That's what this song means to me. |

yeah, i think this song is a/b him helping someone deal w/ something that he's already gone through. He's trying to give them advice, but they won't listen to him. He's still going to do everything he can to help them, even if that means just listening and being there for them. He's watching the fireworks b/c he knows what's going on, but he can't stop it.
Everyone has their own opinion a/b what this song means. I think that makes the song even better because everyone can relate it to something in their own lives. It's a really beautiful song, like a lot of j.e.w's music. You can just feel the emotion so much. |

I love this song! It's one of my favorites right now b/c I can really realte to it. I think this song is about asking someone out, or going up to them and talking to them for the first time. It's like a comment on the whole dating scene. Does anyone know what song he's talking a/b "what goes on"? ik there's a beetles song called that and another 1 by the velvet underground but idk. And also "authority song" itself. If anyone knows, please tell me b/c I have no clue |
