...And there was a thing called "Selling Out," and it was bad. VERY bad. I love Dashboard Confessional. I always have. The Drowning EP, The Swiss Army Romance, even The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most...some of the BEST CDs I own. Acoustic sound is brilliant in it's simplicity, and that pair with Chris's potently emotional lyrics was mind blowing. I will never get tired of "A Sharp Hint of New Tears" no matter how much I hear it...that is how good it is. The old stuff is amazing. The new stuff, however, is a lot more electric than acoustic and the lyrics don't hit as hard. Chris is getting a lot of MTV (the root of ALL that is evil) play and a lot of radio play, too. Little Teeny Boppers are swallowing up his music now because he's on MTV. Half the greatness in Dashboard was in the fact that it was under ground. Now he's just selling out. I'll always love old Dashboard stuff, but they new music is just...substandard. |

Ok, guys, fill me in. Is this Chris from Dashboard Confessional\Vacant Andys? I kind of stumbled upon Further Seems Forever by just reading some of thier lyrics and hearing one song on a CD my friend Crystl let me borrow. The lyrics are quite similar in their content and the dude who sings this guy sounds just like Chris. Fill me in, please. This song is really brilliant. Anyone who can capture feeling into such flowing lyrics is amazing. |

WooHoo, Shortgirl! *laughs* Thank you, thank you... Relationship falling into peices VS. Drug-related song...I suppose most people go for the more shallow meaning. Scanning through all the previous posts, I think that Huh? (what a wonderful name) has it right. The relationship is failing because of the chic, and he's telling her "Hey, look, LISTEN! See what you've done? We're falling appart. You've jerked me around so much, but fed me all the sweet lines. I'm through with this." |

I hate how some people always think that every song has some drug-related meaning. Some people are more deep than that... To me, this song is about an unwinding relationship. Note the "String from your tether unwinds" phrase. Just because it says "with a little sweet and simple numbing me" doesn't mean that the numb is drugs. I took that as "spinning free" alone, not tied to a relationship, and that simpleness sort of numbed the thoughts and the pain. Life is deeper than drugs, people. Thank you to those of you who are smart enough to see that. |

Lyrics=the foundation of good music. No matter how rockin the music, I think that to be a good song there HAS to be meaningful lyrics. Good music is, well, good, but lyrics really add that emotional empact that makes a song blow you away. For me, a way to know a good song is to read the lyrics first. That's how I found Dashbaord Confessional, Further Seems Forever, and Bright Eyes. Yup, good lyrics rock... And ShortGirl, you're following me! *laughs and winks* NOOO! |

First of all, this song is wonderful. I am actually listening to it now on a CD my friend (who is on this place as Shortgirl_05) burned for me. It's great. Secondly, Dashboard is kind of selling out,which upsets me. I've always loved Chris's older stuff where it was him andhis guitar. His new stuff is over produced so that it will be swallowed up by fashion\music industry yuppies and those who follow them. It's really sad. I thought the lead sounded alot like him, which hyped me out. Chris rocks....I just wih he wouldn't let Dashboard sell out! |
