| Such a cool concept for a song for multiple reasons. On the surface it's a 2 part song from the perspective of the capturer of the butterfly & (reprise) one from the butterfly that is dying in a jar. It is also meant metaphorically describing a toxic & controlling relationship where one person feels they have to have them contained so they can't leave yet wants everyone to see the beautiful specimen they have. In the reprise they are being controlled & are dying inside & potentially for real, they want out & are beautiful despite all they endure. That's a pretty vague description of what is a fantastic song that many people have never heard. It's one of my favorites. Props to candlebox, who never got the recognition they deserved. | |
