A lot of bands are used as conduits for messages. Imo this song is a first person account from the perspective of the Devil (similar to the Rolling Stones Sympathy for the Devil). ‘There's a shadow just behind me, Shrouding every step I take, Making every promise empty, Pointing every finger at me’ aka everyone blames satan for everything, likely because he is behind all sin. Next ‘ Waiting like the stalking butler, Whom upon the finger rests, Murder now the path of "must we", Just because the Son has come’ God has judgement over him so now he is forced to murder bc he has no other choice bc he is damned. Son is Jesus, which sealed his fate, the book had been written and everything will happen as it has been foretold. ‘ Jesus, won't you *** whistle, Something but the past is done? Jesus, won't you *** whistle, Something but the past is done?’ He is crying out for God/Jesus to simply do something, anything (at his name every knee will bow) and have him (Satan) restart over but his fate is sealed. God’s word is final and nothing will change that. This most interesting passage is the next one which describes the devil aka Satan perfectly: ‘ I am just a worthless liar, I am just an imbecile, I will only complicate you Trust in me and fall as well’ fall references his fall from heaven as a fallen angel and he is dragging humans to hell with him, misery loves company. ‘I will find a center in you, I will chew it up and leave, I will work to elevate you, Just enough to bring you down.’ This is how the devil operates everyday to destroy people if you let him in and give into sin like drugs or addiction is a great avenue for him to accomplish his mission. Next he tries to cry out to the Virgin Mary who also sealed his fate because her seed (Jesus) crushed the head if the serpent (satan which is why he rebelled in the first place and was thrown out of heaven) but again there is no use, his fate is sealed and he can’t do anything to change it so he just focuses on the destruction of the human race while he still feels sorry for himself, he never stops sinning or turns away from his evil ways, he just blames everyone else for his state. Repent and turn to Christ. This is not a joke and the lyrics are real and literal. Open your bible - don’t just sing lyrics, know what you are taking part in. Great song and lyrics no doubt, Lucifer was the angel of music and he is incredible at sharing his gift with those who help him spread his message but it isn’t worth the fall that will result for your soul. |
