| The Extra Glenns – the river song Lyrics | 1 day ago |

While at first glance, this may seem like a an impressionist song. I can't help to think this song is about crying. The river is the tear coming down her face and she (could be a he too I suppose) is crying because she either wants to break up with him or she realises she can't go on with him anymore _i got a letter from the dry city's heart you say the water distribution system's come all apart_ the well of emotion is dry, the heartbreak pushed out the tears onto her face. _and my place here's threatened but i had it in my mind_ he know it's the end by the looks of it and they will have an emotional goodbye, he was expecting it. _and your face was on the skyline, so sweet and so kind_ if she's the skyline, the clouds then her tears are the rain that make the river. The chorus is all about letting all the tears go. _let them take a good long look around_ tears are reflective. And so on, it's then easy to decipher the rest of the song. Except maybe fishes with machine-like faces. I suppose they are the stoic reasons not to cry, going against the current with a poker face. _and the little river's waters became our separate skies_ they cried, time passes by, water evaporates into clouds and the clouds separate. All that love and pain is out there somewhere. |

Isn't it obvious this song is about life? Specifically the being born and dying aspects of it. You have to say goodbye 2 times in your life, when you are born and when you die. When you are born, you have to say goodbye to the vampire planet (The womb where you take the blood from your mom). You are pulled from the withered roots and knots (umbilical cord) and pass through some hairy hole (hairy rust). _The night comes crawling in on all fours_ is a reference to that riddle (what is on 4 legs in the morning, 2 in the evening, and 3 in the afternoon? A man.). The night represents death, it's kinda mocking the baby by imitating it on all fours. And so he has to say goodbye again. All the references to the thoughts and dreams crossing and entering land is about wanting to live forever, never saying goodbye. |
