I was inspired, to write about this song when I was trying to go to sleep the other night. Like I said it was a favorite song of mine and I knew most of the words and I added an interpretation to it per my long life of traveling. It is a love song of sorts, but it is also a song about relationships and traveling on roads or in those relationships, that sometimes go sour on you. For instance, my interpretation of some of the roads that I traveled is that I stayed in some bad places for much to long of a time. By doing that, I neglected the very good places that God may have chosen for me instead. Yes, I said God and that is another meaning that this song has for me now that I have meet Him. It has been a long and winding road to meet Him, and it seemed many times that I was left just standing there with the door to His house shut in my face. But the truth is the door was simple to open but it required me to let go of all that I had or will ever be to follow Him and He will lead me not only to His door but throughout life and eternity. I was a traveler on highways for many years, but I was traveling in the wrong direction for many years. But now it is a different story because He leads me and I am still alive to know it way past the age where I used to think as a kid growing up that I would cease to be. |
