I heard this song on a mix a friend made for me- all songs about the outdoors. It's the last song, and I was anxiously waiting for the mix to end, because while it's lovely, I was desperately tired and ready for bed. And then this song came on, and I was wide awake. It was loud, it was echoing, and it was dark and cool outside- the very beginnings of this autumn. And so, when I hear it, I hear this autumn, and always see how fall looks on my street, and think I always will. |

I always loved this song. At the end of the day, when things are hopeless, this song just sits, and it echoes that feeling. Recently I had to end a friendship with someone who was very dear to me for a long time, but hurtful despite everything. There's this feeling of giving up, of sadness, but ultimately not having anything you can do- it's up to the other. About feeling utterly useless. |

It made me sad she tried to die and all I could think was I would hear this song when I went to sleep, and I hope maybe she wasn't crazy, maybe. |

I agree with rx2kONE, for me, I have that same meaning for it. I don't care about the name- why people make fun of it, whatever. I don't make fun of your name, lardass. I like rush hour. I love sitting in a car, and having nothing to do, nowhere to go, no stresses on me, seeing the roadside trees, its relaxing for me. I fear I'm the only one. "After years of waitin nothing cam," but that, that's fucking serious, few words get me so badly as those, they get me deep deep down thank god the song isn't any longer, and the first on the album otherwise I would be crying my eyes out thinking of lost opportunities and various fuck-ups I've made for being pig-headed and full of pride and horrible. |

Thom must've seen some movie when he was young about lovers in the rain. He's been forever entranced with romantic notions of it since. Like in this song, and so many others (See "Sit Down. Stand Up," for real reference to raindrops, so many others mentioning water- "Lucky," "Pyramid Song," "Sail To the Moon," and so on and so forth)
This songs makes me feel shitty, in a shitty way, so I tend to space out during it and try not to think about the words too much- only the music if I can. this song makes me feel sorry- its about being sorry and maybe thinking youre going to pay for what you get (but in less obvious terms that "Karma Police." Thom's vegetarianism (or is he a vegan now???), the guilt of the killing chickens, echoing in his head. "When I am king,you will be first against the wall." More you get what you pay for and such things. He must've felt like an asshole for a few years there. It sucks feeling like an asshole, when you know youre being a jerk- or maybe with the you'll be first on the wall line, he feels like hes the only un-asshole around, surrounded by gucci wearing motherfuckers who suck out chicken brains through straws and laugh as they pick the bones from their teeth. |

A friend of mine died, and I was listening to amnesiac, and all I could think of was him. This song, and I Might Be Wrong, and I just thought about him, and I knew death wasn't going to be that bad. You have to let go, which is the worst- how us silly humans grab onto things and then never ever let ourselves let go, its so hard. But once we let go, dive into that river, everything ends up fine, afterall, and there's nothing to fear or doubt, everything is fine. |

"No ripcord, the answer to your prayers will drop you anywhere" I suppose to the americans, the meaning of ripcord is somewhat lost- they don't realize its the little string that pulls out the parachute, and without it, you'll fall anywhere, it honestly doesn't matter, you're dead. "You had enough" "the answer to your prayers," its a sad, sad song, set to a somewhat punkish sounding guitar riff that sounds like it wants to die.
But for me, the best part is the use of my favorite word, the way it goes, too, "its inevitable, its inevitable." I think ill give it a whirl now, and think about dying. |

My thought is on how that thoght is broken up. this was the first radiohead album i listened to, and i did it while spacing out and doing homework, and I knew PA, so when SHA came on, it was the first song I paid attention to, and the lyrics, and it caught my attention and stood out as my 'first radiohead song." it has a personal meaning for me, of that your friends still love you, but they don't always understand you, and its just so beautiful, so much of perfect, so much of what I wish i was completely, and what I am, some, and its so lovely. |

i love this song its one of my fave's on elva. scott and mark are old friends from like 10, 15 years ago, so uhm maybe that why they sound alike? theyre also both from poway, ca, which everyone else pretty much calls san diego, cuz well its a bigger town and people dont give you a blank stare when you say thats where youre from. i think this is about some chick who he likes, but as he gets to know her shes a real bitch. thats just from like the title and the chorus, so im probabaly(read: definetly) wrong. |
