The best part of great writing is the fact words well put together mean so much to the listener, for what it means to them. For me it’s a song about a guy and the woman he fell in love with as they slide further away and further through life trying to pry apart, trying to let go, trying to stop feeling it. I think in this point of view it’s kinda easy to understand most of the song… except the mud of the chorus. But then when it you see it, there isn’t unseeing it. Don’t hate you ..wanna save you .. just means she loves him so freaking much and doesn’t wanna let go but she got scared and has to push him away once her vulnerability becomes obvious to her. She can’t let herself get hurt again. He is acknowledging he too loves her but as much as he wants it, as much as he would do anything, he can’t be the reason she lets go of the things that hold her back. Even if he wishes he could be. Falling in love is wild. Falling into passion with someone just as passionate and becoming the amazing perfect couple full of life and passion and dreams and the envy of everyone you know isn’t something that often happens. When it does though, and it fails, the days go on like crushing weight for a long, long time. Watching it happen knowing you’re helpless to stop it. I’m happy to finally find something that really puts words to what this is like to experience. |
