My mind automatically goes to dark places when I hear a song that sounds sad to me, so my initial interpretation was that it was about a little boy who lives in an abusive environment and reads picture books at night about heroes with the hope that one day a hero will save him. But even at that young age, he knows they're just stories for boys. |
