The Receiving End Of Sirens – The Wall Of All Against All Lyrics 20 years ago
"The war of all against all" is a direct quote from the early philosopher Hobbes who believed life in the state of nature (without government) would be nasty, brutish and short. he basically said that humans are only looking out for themselves and will kill eachother off without some kind of social contract.

I love this song in particular because of all the clever puns, especially "dying to please the enemy."

Another one ... "Bring on all the King’s horses and all the King’s men." This is from Humpty Dumpty if you don't remember it, basically saying that you could bring the entire army and still not be able to piece humpty dumpty back together again ;)

"We were lead to led lovers" lead lovers = gun lovers? Not sure, that's the only thing I can interpret from it.

The Receiving End Of Sirens – Flee The Factory Lyrics 20 years ago
I think this song is about Identity. From the minute you are born, the majority of children are raised the way that their parents have been told is socially acceptable for the best results. At a point in a child's life, in the early/late teens, most people being to question where they fit in... are they really the creature that their parents and society have created or are they their own individual person?
In the process of losing innocence, the child's actual experiences clash head on with their perceptions of how things should be based on the limited amount of things they're actually told and exposed to. This can lead to an identity crisis.
So, the entire analogy of the robot-man or whatever might be referring to the way society and parents mold you vs. your own actual thoughts and perceptions.

The Receiving End Of Sirens – Then I Defy You, Stars Lyrics 20 years ago
I think a large majority of the song is referring to the masked party at which Romeo and Juliet originally met.

The only other reference I can get is self-inflicted surgery - could be sarcastically referring to slitting wrists. After all, romeo and juliet both killed themselves at the end.

Aside from the shakespeareian reference I'm not sure what else the song could mean... if anything else. Romeo and Juliet represents enough in itself to not need to mean anything else.

The Get Up Kids – Ten Minutes Lyrics 23 years ago
hehe i just think its funny when the first poster said matt pryor outdid himself. i think its pretty easy to tell the difference between the two singers... matts more of the prettyboy singer and jim has a rougher voice... i like them both but i don't see how they could be mistaken. and i think the way you can tell a good band from a bad band is if the band has one guy that IS the band... like nickelback or whatever... good bands with 2 singers and 2 songwriters kick ass... yay guk yay alk3 ;)
