Dishwalla – Counting Blue Cars Lyrics 3 months ago
So these lyrics are just fantastic. In honesty the music is fine but its pretty typical 90s alt rock. It doesn't really sonically offer to much. But the lyrics are just unbelievable.

My interpretation is this a song about existentialism from the perspective of a homeless adult and child. They have nothing to do but aimlessly walk around in their dirty clothes, count cars, and think about the meaning of life.

@[BigKirch25:54379] completely agree. I noticed this right away when I read the lyrics. This is a song about a homeless adult and their homeless child aimlessly walking around. The innocent child's questions are both naive and profound. This is existentialism at its finest. But yeah I have been homeless myself so I instantly connected to the lines which I believe unveil that reality. As you said mundane things like hopping over cracks in the sidewalk to counting the blue cars are for entertainment because they literally have nothing else to do but count cars and ponder the meaning of life. The stained clothes is the most obvious reference but even the crossed eyed line stood out to me for multiple reasons. There are genuinely so many homeless people who have eye deformities. There are liberally crossed eyed people, people with blatant lazy eyes or even people mssing them. But also it could be referencing how people look insane after years of hard-core drug abuse. I could imagine a child justifying all these depressing horrid sites as people just making silly faces.
